Then Augustana being invited to the Summit shouldn't even be a topic of conversation. They don't fit the profile of the schools in the conference and don't increase the status of the conference. If it was Augustana of Illinois instead of Augustana of South Dakota we wouldn't even be having this conversation. The only thing Augie has going for it is that they are located in Sioux Falls and have a big money donor with a jealousy complex. Sioux Falls wants a D1 toy of their own. None of that is enough to warrant adding Augustana, in fact, those are really bad ideas for them to move to D1. The entire transforming the school into a D1 university is all a smoke screen, it's about the athletics and Sioux Falls having a team of their own. If it's about transforming and increasing the University then do that first and apply to D1 in 20 years after that is done.

Who says the Summit is all about institutional fit?

Why did we add Oral Roberts and Denver, two private institutions. The former is tremendously different from the rest of the schools.

    Footprint matters.

Denver is one of the premier athletic programs in all of DI and has captured how many Athletic Directors Cups in a row. They have done this despite having a mediocre basketball program. Despite ORU's struggles over the last 5-7 years, they are the most accomplished M basketball and Baseball programs in the Summit and it was a good thing when they came back. Neither one of these athletic programs share anything in common with UMKC or Augie other than geography. Potential success and upward mobility should be way more important than just checking a geography box.

    Is your post a joke?

Pioneer athletics is a realm of misfit toys. Being national champions in co-ed skiing means nothing to no one. They are in the Summit because no one else would take them.

Denver has a pretty impressive D1 resume. They bring a ton to our conference, including impressive academics

Look into it before you post again, they have a hell of an Athletic program. For reference, look at the post above this.

I don't need to look into it.

I stand by what I said. They are not far from being God's gift to the summit league let alone college athletics.

Denver’s success comes from three sports; Skiing, Hockey and Lacrosse. All fine niche sports, but in regards to The Summit, you’re correct.

Denver pays its basketball coach top dollar as far as the Summit is concerned, they do suck but it isn't because they don't care. Their AD just sucks at hiring. ORU used to pay top dollar as well, not sure they are still shelling out Sutton level money but they did hire a high major assistant.
NDSU to the FBS always. In all ways.
