They’d put that money into FB and BB
Makes no sense whatsoever to have 2 D1 MIH programs in ND
There’s already way too much D1 redundancy

That said, I do not think that is what this implies, lakes
This is the correct take. I’d rather have a successful FB and MBB team than add a hockey team that makes all 3 mediocre. And I love hockey.

The good news is that no one is asking/requiring NDSU to add hockey.
What is being floated is a possible situation that benefits the conference (aka keeps it alive in the event someone leaves) that is revenue positive as the NCHC is a profitable conference on its own. The NCHC would benefit as it would lower overhead and also not leave them left behind as single sport conferences are going to lose some power with changes to the NCAA constitution. That last point is also a very good reason why the Summit should look at pulling the MVFC under its umbrella as well.

The single-sport conference thing is going to be a bigger problem than some believe.

And can we rebrand it all (SL, NCHC, MVFC) with something inspiring?

That sites lists revenue production per school. There are about 350 D-1 basketball programs and around 250 football programs compared to 62 hockey program that compete at the D-1 level. Plus there is no mention of expenses or net profit/loss.

Ice hockey is less popular than even lacrosse in college sports.

Regardless of popularity, or other perceived problems with hockey this discussion is about the Summit adding an additional sport that would make the conference more stable. Not sure why anyone would be against this.

Also, can someone tell me when and where to go for the swimming/diving and tennis picketing demonstrations?
