Perhaps this opens the door for the Bears as a full member at some point in the future??? Could help balance things geographically with travel partners or provide stability if Western Illinois folds their athletic program or drops to D2.

    NDSU/UND
    SDSU/USD
    Omaha/UMKC
    Denver/UNC???
    ORU
    WIU/St Thomas???
I've said it before and I will say it again. At this point it no longer matters and the Summit may as well invite Minnesota State. We have already gone so far down the mudhole there is no reason to pretend the Summit is better than that. They can put football into the Pioneer league and have close rivals with UST and Drake. It makes geographic sense and builds a bridge between the Cities and Sioux falls. If were going to be in a low major conference then let's at least make it geographically friendly.

    NDSU/UND
    SDSU/USD
    Omaha/UMKC
    Denver/UNC
    UST/Minnesota State
    ORU/????

WIU would support adding MN State, Lindenwood or Northern CO. We do not want another Centenary aka Augustana. UMKC and STU will make things better for the SL.

Western will never drop football. Of the IL schools we have arguably the richest tradition. The current coach is a joke but it's the primary focus of the athletic department. Just look at the non conference schedule to see how people feel. We could just schedule SEMO or Murray State but we seek out elite teams.

    Yes. Money games.

There's a different, real reason why you schedule those...
Many thousands are in want of common necessaries; hundreds of thousands are in want of common comforts, sir."
Scrooge-"Are there no prisons?". "Plenty of prisons..."
Scrooge-"And the Union workhouses." . "Are they still in operation?". "Both very busy, sir..."
"Those who are badly off must go there."
"Many can't go there; and many would rather die."
Scrooge- "If they would rather die," "they had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

No, I am referencing playing Montana and Montana State in the same year when WIU could just stick to the Big Sky challenge and then a lesser opponent. This season WIU plays the challenge and Northern Alabama because this coach is trying to save his job. Nobody wants to see Northern AL on the schedule. It's another reason he will be shown the door.

Also, I am not upset WIU uses pay games to help fund things in the program. Western wins a decent number of those anyway. Basketball specifically should be playing more of them.

I will leave you too it but Western isn't going anywhere.
