No deer yet. Dont care. I will be at the game. As a matter of fact I will be in Fargo this PM. Wife is having a tug of war with staying to hunt or going to the game if she hasnt got her deer yet. She asked if I would be upset if she wanted to stay and hunt. I said hell no---I know people who want the ticket.
She said thanks. LOL
Really--- Its all up to her. She loves deer hunting and I understand that. But shes pretty torn between the two. May be she will get her deer today and she doesnt need to make the decision.

There wont be a full blown rut this year. From what Ive read and wwitnessed it going to be a trickle rut spread out over 3-4 weeks because of the moon phases. One day you see bucks chasing does and the next nothing. So they are are finding does ready to come in and then playing the chase game all over again. Strange year so far.

My dad fill his tag today. Young buck, nice 5X5, but thin rack. Shot the thing off the RR tracks damned near in city limits. The RR tracks run through miles of slew bottom near our town. The deer ran and then went down in a big "splash." I was thinking, "get up a run to dry ground." He got up and ran right in the middle of tall cattails and then went down with another "spash." Needless to say, I wish he would have stayed down in the first water hole.
Long story short, we won't be walking the RR anytime soon.

Not a lot of photos yet so I will try to prime the pump. My younger brother dropped this buck somewhere south of Cormont. His 14 year old daughter spotted it, but did not want the shot. He doesn't post on BV but has been to a number of games with me over the years so some of you have met him.

Filled my tag Sat. evening. Was holding out for a big one, but had to finally settly for a small 5X5. It was damned cold out and the scenerio was too good to pass up. He was pushing a doe and they come right into me. Still was a long shot (300+ yards). The old 7mm Mag. is still dead on.
Still a little disappointed, would have had another day to hunt. Maybe next year, but I doubt it, in ND its very hard to get drawn for a buck tag every year. More than likely I'll get a doe tag next year.
My dad was the photographer. He is getting old so the quality isn't that good.
