5 home games coming off of a 10-1 season. I suspect that winning the prior year is a strong driver of current year attendance as well as the scarsity caused by the abbreviated home slate.

Well, no shit!! My point was that we have seen this type of home attendance before. Give us 6-7 home games in 07 and we would have seen the same numbers, just like we are seeing the numbers this year after a relatively successful run last year. Winning and PO's, if you can get in, bring in more fans. No statistical secret there the last time I checked!!

Even more amazing stat when you dive into the numbers is that through 8 games there was only a total of 4424 total from being sold out or an average of 553 per game.

Updated original post... Bison set record for average attendance (despite the "playoff effect"), crushed the season total attendance mark, and finished #3 in the nation in total attendance. Better attendance than 60 FBS teams reported and probably better than what 90 FBS schools actually achieved.

NDSU was #111 in all of DI in average attendance. We outdrew 19 FBS programs in average attendance. We finished #10 in FCS in that category. Even with total maximum at 19,000, we still wouldn't be able to crack the top 100 in the country. I wonder if that idea that Gene had to slightly increase the Dome capacity should move forward.

Interesting numbers. Tailgating + DI + decent records = Big Attendance.

Tailgating + DI + Championships = Huge Attendance
Updated the original post. Win the next two games and the total attendance record is in the bag. Only have to average over 17,300 to surpass last year.

I've heard of Minnesota and even SDSU as having a master facility plan, a plan that covers all wants and wishes in regards to the future of all athletic buildings. Has Gene ever mentioned anything like that? I would think that they have some sort of long range plan to deal with the football fan base growth issues. I'd like to see anything even if it is 20 years away.

This would be interersting to see. Gotta wonder what the long-term plan is in the event that they decide a new venue is necessary. Where would it be built? How many seats would it have? etc. etc.

You will never see a master plan because we dont own the dome. Im not an expert but were not going to build an outdoor stadium in this climate so we would need something better than the dome.

    A) build a cheaper outdoor stadium that will be huge and empty. Probably slightly better than a remodeled CAS in Bookings but not as nice as TCF. B) 300-500 million dollar larger dome or c) spend 25-50 million to make the dome larger, but it still will only add 10k capacity if were lucky but will be large enough to go FBS.

C is the likely choice. But no discussions will occur for 5 years assuming we dont see a drop in interest. Making the dome larger would preserve our unique atmosphere and make it crazy loud
