Got a tour last week of the new Sanford hospital going up in Fargo. They get around some of the labor issues in ingenious ways: complete pre-built bathroom "pods" for patient rooms, pre-built racks of pipes that connect together in the ceilings above hallways. Interesting how they "ship" the labor to other areas of the country. The head construction manager is a woman who graduated from NDSU. We were directed to look for the Bison flag when gathering for the tour. Loved that touch!

Yeah, prefab can help ease the labor issues, but there still isn't enough labor when taking into account prefab and the other techniques being implemented.

No offense, but how in the hell do you know?! If they are a couple weeks behind, no reason they can't make that up. And let's say they end up being 3 or even 4 weeks behind come the fall of 2016. It's not like it will be the basketball arena and entrances that will be the last to be completed. It would be small finishing things like carpet, paint, and other finishing things that most people wouldn't see. The smart money is on the first home basketball game in the Scheels Center being on schedule.

That's what I said. Maybe we are in agreement. It may not be 100% complete but it will still be complete enough so that basketball games can be played there with little notice from anyone that it is not 100% finished. This year at Wrigley Field, the reconstruction of the bleachers will not be complete by opening day. But they will still be playing baseball on schedule. It wont look like a construction site in the outfield, just the underneath finishing stiuff delayed a few weeks.

Heck, Scheels Arena has been open for over 6 years and it still doesn't seem like that project was ever completed.

Pretty much any large project in the metro is/will be behind schedule due to the shortage of skilled labor. There's a few projects running with 50% of the labor needed in some trades. The smart money is on the SHAC not being completed on schedule.

This is a major issue all around the F-M. Its getting so bad that we have to do something drastic to get more folks here. As much I I don't like Big Al, he might be on to something with his tax plan.

I'm sure our building will be top notch. I do enjoy Scheels as a temporary place though.
