I drove by there today on the way to volleyball and it looks as though they have dug up along what will be the west side of the building to the SW corner. You can tell how big the place is going to be. The short side of the building is basically taking up half the width of the R lot east to west.

The capacity for Basketball will be 5,945. 245 more than we thought it would be. 4,166 actual seats and 1,779 bench seats. Tho I'm assuming all seating will be new installation. I think the current seats in the upper west side will be individually ripped out and replaced.

I hope that once it's done it will look intriguing to the Missouri Valley people.

5900 seats and no room for expansion.........another shortsighted project........reminds me of the Fargodome. So the most significant Bison sports are stuck with venues that severely limit attendance for big games. A 5900 seat basketball arena for a 15,000 student school in a metro area well over 200,000 people.

I know it's not the best situation, but the FargoDome is VERY capable of holding big games if needed (UND last year).

This is what happens when only 3k go to the current arena, hard to justify building something more than twice its size. IMO having 6k at basketball games will be a good problem to have if it comes to fruition. Some fans may be left out for bigger games but we'll have a great home court advantage and it isn't like 6k is something to be embarrassed about...UNI and Gonzaga have similar sized venues.

In another thread we are complaining cause we can 't fill up the FFD. If we start to get more than 5900 regular BB attendees we can start to look at the FFD.

I'm all for looking ahead but I don't want to see a half empty facility for the next 10-15 years, either.
