    Default NDSU Transcripts

So a little background, I am getting close to finishing my Ph.D. and looking for jobs/fellowships/etc. which means a lot of shipping transcripts around. Apparently NDSU started going through a company that handles a lot of different Universities transcript requests and then charges $5/per transcript request. Can't NDSU do this in house? I wouldn't mind paying $5 if I knew that it was going to NDSU, but I am guessing that this company is raking that in and NDSU is basically just outsourcing.

Anyone know more about this/frustrated by this?

Thought that was strange when I ran across that as well. Luckily, I didn't need to send official transcripts to too many places, so not a big deal.

    Congrats on finishing the PhD!

Do you need official transcripts? When I was looking for a postdoctoral position a few years ago I just made a .pdf scan of my original transcripts that NDSU sent me and used those.

$5 is cheaper than many universities. I think I pay $15 for my transcript requests from A&M.

    $15 from Iowa State.

I had a good experience with them. Pay the $5 and you'll receive it very quickly.

When I applied to dental schools I had to get my official transcripts from all the colleges I attended. They all were through a 3rd party site. It was not too pricey and worked fine.

Yeah, most of them have to be official. Oooff, 15 is tough, man that sucks. I guess it isn't the price that matters so much, and they have been very prompt and good at this point. Just wondering why NDSU can't handle this themselves and keep the money in house would seem to make more sense, but maybe it's just too much work.
