That article was not much different than the guy that came completely unglued about bison fans standing in section 101 where i was. The guys down at the rail were standing (bison fans), and so all of us were standing for the next 10 rows up. A fan of the maroon started screaming off and on for a 5 minute stretch in Q1 after he realized that people were going to be standing for the entire game. Most of his screaming was toward the fans on the rail, but those of us a few rows from this guy were getting the brunt of it too.

After people would not sit, the guy called a secuirty guard over and he told the people on the rail to sit down. That lasted for about 10 seconds, then everyone was back standing. The guard and the MN fan realized that it was a lost cause.

As for throwing the "A" word Assult around loosely, I say grabbing someone's clothing is not assult. If a woman grabs a guys hood, we would not be talking about assult would we? No we would not. Did he have intent to hurt her, No he did not. I think words like pushed or pulled are much more accurate than Assult. Grabbing someone's hood is not very become behavior as a fan, but then again, I wouldn't call it assult either.

I'm not a lawyer but I'm pretty sure that a guy pulling a woman down by her hood and then berating her would be a fairly clear case of assault (although I'm sure the legal definition of "assault" varies from jurisdiction to jurisdiction - you might be thinking of battery), but here's a tip: If some angry guy pulls my wife down by her hood and starts yelling at her, the law is not going to be his immediate concern*. BTW, how would you like to be that guy in front of a judge pleading the "justifiable assault" defense? He'd be better off claiming to be a senile old coot.

    * My wife eviscerating (figuratively?) him would be.

For the record, I don't think non-students should stand for the whole game unless they're in a spot where they won't obstruct anybody's view, but dickheads should be very, very careful about who they lay their hands on.

Not in my world, this is an assult on her plain and simple. Pulled her down hard enough to hit her head? I wouldn't need security, wouldn't care if I spent the night in the Pokey. If he had done it to my daughter or wife, I would have considered it an unprovked assult, then handled it. Something simular happened to me at the Metrodome once, with my high school daughter, I was not a happy father, security was not needed, after a few words the guy left the game.

Regardless of the fault or lack thereof on part of the young lady, there is a very clear difference between asking someone to sit down (which isn't something I would do, but which I can understand particularly for the elderly or disabled) and taking physical action to see that that happens. I can even understand talking to security if I'm the old guy, in certain situations. The guy should've been reported to security and at the least escorted from the game. Very uncool.

I can tell you this much, if he did that to my wife I would have been kicked out of the game for knocking that guy on his ass. I'm sure many of you would do the same any significant other in your life.

I swear some people would enjoy football games a lot more if they could watch them in a movie theater (except with the volume turned downuff and the lights bright enough to read by.) That way nobody would be talking or standing or cheering.

Being at a college football game is an EXPERIENCE. That experience includes doing stupid stuff, like dressing in SCHOOL COLORS, chanting, singing, standing for big plays, and all sorts of stuff. Athletics is a celebration of life... and most people don't celebrate sitting around silently.

Even in church, you sometimes have to stand.
