I have a brother who lives in San Diego who had some friends over last saturday. He found the game on the Big Ten network and they watched the game while playing poker. (the big game that night was ASU-USC later in the evening) The consensus in the room was that CLEARLY NDSU had the better team. Now, these are some guys who actually went to the USC game against the Gophers...they were impressed that every time the Gophers would make a run, NDSU would come right back and slam the door. One even laughed listening to the announcers making excuses for the Gophers late in the third quarter and commented..."Does this announcer realize that NDSU hasn't even punted in this game yet? What a homer!" They were very impressed with Coulter Boyer and Levon Perry. They also thought that Marcus Williams was the best athlete on the field.
As far as penalties go...both had penalties. You can say that the first drive was kept alive by a penalty but remember, the guy that got the penalty was also the guy who made the sack. There was a reason he got to the quarterback so quick...the ref agreed.
The Gophers have two very good runningbacks. Duane Bennett is a hell of a back who runs extremely hard there is no shame in giving up some yards to this team on the groud, especially when the main focus was making someone other than Demarcus Williams beat you by scrambling. The Bison pretty much shut him down.
Just My Opninion....I could be wrong.
Who the hell is Demarcus Williams?
