Didnt he play well in the past seasons? I thought i remeber watching him block atleast one punt. (and i dont watch the titans at all..)

He played pretty decent in the action that he saw, of which a majority was special teams. He did block a punt last year. Schommer's problem was that he was injured this entire preseason. He was a favorite of Jeff Fisher and the previous coaching staff, but with the turmoil of the lockout and shortened offseason, Mike Munchak and his new coaching staff didn't get a good look at Schommer with the injury.

It's too bad too, the Titans are pretty thin on talent at the safety postion, I thought he had a shot to stick around.
