Default Roundtree, Dykstra, Bader post-season honors

Dykstra, Roundtree and Bader get named to the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Freshman all-American list. Interesting that Bjorklund or Braun weren't mentioned here.

They've also got this guy on there, which I found funny:

If only they had this broken down by halves of the season, Braun was just hurt by the fact that through the first 11 games of the season he didn't put up the points and rebounds like he did in the last 18 games.

    1st 11 Games
    PPG - 5.1
    Rebounds/PG - 4.5
    Steals/PG - 0.8
    Assists/PG - 2.3

    Last 18 Games
    Braun
    PPG - 10.1
    Rebounds/PG -6.4
    Steals/PG - 1.2
    Assists/PG - 2.3

    Season
    Bader
    PPG - 10.5
    RPG - 2.2
    SPG - 0.5
    APG - 1.4

Looking at those stats from the last 18 games I feel is a more accurate description of what Braun brings to the table. Not to mention for overal FG% Braun shot 49.4% on the season and Bader only 43.8%. Add Braun's defensive ability into that mix and I'm pretty confident Braun is going to have his fair share of awards coming his way in the future. Bader got this one, but Braun will get his.

Bader is a 3pt specialist though, so that has to be taken into account.

Roundtree is a stud. That kid is going to be special.

Bader - understand you point, but if we are looking for the best freshman in the nation my opinion is that it should be the best all around players out there.

Roundtree - most certainly is a stud, not looking forward to having to play against him for 3 more years

Yeah, I thought Roundtree was a JUCO kid until damn near the conference tourney. Oral Roberts is the class of the league. They are going to be stacked for years to come. They really impress me with the type of athletes they are able to get. I like the way we have a good rivalry going with them.

Well, you were almost half right. Roundtree spent a post-graduate year at a prep school in Maine. He spent his senior year in high school as a teammate of Hunter McClintock in North Carolina, but he is listed as a native of Jacksonville, FL. He played in Jacksonville through his junior season in high school.

It's pretty common for freshman to struggle right away (Earning playing time, adjusting to the college game, tough OOC schedule). If you split up Baders stats for the first 11 games and following 18 they also increase. I only took into account PPG to save myself some time. I however can not explain and will not try to explain why Bjorklund took a step back. I understand I only looked at PPG and realize both Braun and Bjorklund are quality players which bring more to the table.

    Bader
    First 11 Games
    PPG-7.0
    Next 18 Games
    PPG- 12.3

    Dykstra
    First 11 Games
    PPG-7.7
    Next 18 Games
    PPG-13.2

    Braun
    First 11 Games
    PPG-5.1
    Next 18 Games
    PPG-10.1

    Bjorklund
    First 11 Games
    PPG-10.2
    Next 18 Games
    PPG-7.8

Part of Bjorklund's fall off was due to Braun, Wright and Felt scoring more, the other part is he seemed to be playing fewer minutes due to matchups and foul trouble. I'm confident he will bounce back strong this year, it will help having strong guard play and having a good running mate in Aaberg to take some of the pressure off.

Not taking a shot at you, but its strange that the Summit League didn't cut and paste that correctly. The official release has it correct. http://www.collegeinsider.com/awards..._freshmen.html

Regardless, basketball fans should enjoy the next few years getting to watch the area guys on the list and the young Bison who didn't make the list.

I cant believe there not in/attempting to get in the CUSA(8) or MVC(12) or a geographic strech to MWC(4) or Horizon(11). If ORU was elevated by conference they could probably reach new heights, maybe the money isnt there?
