    Default Help us forget about Steve Walker

    Here's hoping that one of our quarterbacks will take control of the team this fall. I'm waiting for the next 'leader' to emerge.

    So many pieces are in place to make the next few years really special. We need a 'gamer' with some genuine cockiness who 'wills' the Bison to win every weekend.

    This is pretty common thing in football...but what I see in the MVFC and in the playoffs is that the team with the strongest leader at QB wins the battle. Move the sticks somehow...make it happen somehow...complete passes when they're needed badly...audible...don't stare down receivers...& bring confidence and enthusiasm to the huddle.

    With that...our defense can pin back its ears and not have to spend most of the game on the field. We need a ball-control QB who can hit the big one once in a while.

    No Steve...I'll never forget what you did at NDSU. You're one of the greats in Bison history...but it's time for the heir to the throne to emerge. It's the difference between a marginal playoff entry, a 3rd or 4th place finish in the conference...and a legitimate title contender both in the conference and nationally.

    If you wore the uniform...you're a champion.

    Once again ++++++++++

    And, I will add, a QB that, if he must, questions the OC and or audibles in spite of him!!

    Good post. I don't think we need Steve Walker quality play but we do need dramatic improvement. You win with defense and a good running game but there has to be a time in which the QB can will a team to win, like the QB at EWU. That guy made plays when the game was on the line.

    I don't care who wins the job as long as they get the job done. Vigen said they simplified the playbook last year. Hopefully that's why we struggled. Completing less than 50% of passes will not cut it.

    I don’t want Jose to win the job. Not because I don't like him but because he's only got 2 years left and his size makes him less effective.

    I hope its Jensen or Thornton.

    Brock has consistently completed less than half of his passes and the screens to DJ inflated his numbers.

    I know its a lot for a freshman to do so we need to cut him some slack. But if we don't see dramatic improvement out of him he's no further along than Thornton. Might as well go with the young guy if accuracy is his strength. Cando worse than 40% and not turn the ball over? Vigen said he's further along than Walker was at this point.

    I say start him.

    He's got to have some rhythm down with Vraa and Gebhart being they practiced together.

    I don't know why but the thought of a freshman playing scares me a bit. Would a freshman pee down their leg vs the Gophers? Give him 2 easy warm up games and see what happens.

    We dont need a steve walker but a qb that could complete 55-60% of his passes to a bison receiver or rb would be nice. I think they said walker was at 65% or somethin which is amazing but, lets face it...steve walker was in a class all by himself. A qb like that will come around but 3 or 4 times in a lifetime
