Default Colton Iverson Released from UM Scholarship

First post so take it easy....

The SF Argus Leader is reporting that Colton Iverson has been released from his scholarship at Minnesota and will complete his career elsewhere. Iverson is a 6'10 junior who could slide into our front court nicely. Probably a longshot at this point, but maybe something to keep an eye on. As a kid from Yankton, SD there is a real possibility that he ends up at USD. Apparently conditions of the UM release include no Big 10 schools and no teams on UM schedule, which could include SDSU and NDSU (2012 season)???

Out of HS he was recruited by Florida, Creighton, Marquette, Kentucky, Nebraska and the Iowa schools.

Welcome to Bisonville. Colton will end up at a school with an "up and coming" coach, in a better league than the Summit. His release forbids him to go to SDSU, Nebraska and NDSU. Good kid who will sit a year and play his senior year. Just need a change of scenery.
Everyone just relax, all right? Believe me, if there's one thing Ron Burgundy knows, it's women.

I didn't know schools can dictate a former player where to play? Could someone explain how scholarship release works?

No criticism here, just got a hearty chuckle at the absent "t" in the thread title.
Which in reverse could make for a funny game sign.

UMKC straight-up dropped the ball on that one. Hell, they actually released him from the team. Didn't even lose eligibility during the transfer process (would've been a senior this year otherwise).

I thought the title ^^^^ looked alittle different too...

Given the state of that athletic department, it might be more appropriate.

UMKC released him to Oakland. He also redshirted last season, hence him having two seasons of eligibility. If he had left before the second semester of his soph. season at UMKC, he would have been eligible to play 2.5 seasons for Oakland
