This is a great deal for NDSU, credit is due to Dr. Chapman for starting this effort. I think we got a good one in Dr. Bresciani as well, and hopefully will continue to grow NDSU to new heights.

NDSU is now categorized as a research university with “very high research activity” by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.

“That’s the crème de la crème,” said President Dean Bresciani.

Kalpana Katti, NDSU distinguished professor of civil engineering, said the university will now be considered one of the “big boys.”
“We start to become players in a playing field where we weren’t before,” Katti said.
That has impacts for the whole state of North Dakota, Katti said, including enhancing the economy and diversity.

Shit, it barely made the Fargo paper. And on page 2 buried in a Higher Ed Notebook article underneath a half-pager on a former UND student newspaper editor. Nicely done, fishwrap, you never cease to disappoint.

Guess it's not that big a deal to have the largest school in the state recognized for achievement in part of its stated mission.

I emailed the editor of the Bismarck Tribune asking when they were going to print the story. His reply was that they usually print any AP articles about NDSU and if and when an AP article was released they would consider printing it.
