Can't we have a little sympathy for the UND Hawks on this somber day. You know you would be crying if NDSU ever dropped the Bison for the Hawks. I know I would be crying if USD dropped the Coyotes for that lame nickname.

Perhaps if a certain "Sioux Forever" segment of their fanbase had actually put some time and effort into working toward choosing a cool name they might have one. Instead they fought the process the entire way...allowing the PC crowd to get their generic unoffensive name.

I don't feel sorry for the people that think a nickname is more important then the school or athletic team...they've absolutely gotten what they deserve.

They had 100% control of this process from the very beginning. They didn't need to waste all that time with the lawsuit and the cooling off period. They could have used that time and collective manpower to come up with something good. This is an entirely self inflicted wound.

Furthermore if NDSU had to drop Bison you better believe we'd take Aggies overwhelmingly.
