The only question is: why are we trying to find that name so soon?

Preposterous statements from 3 of the articles:

    http://www.grandforksherald.com/opin...ssue-non-issue
"Ten years from now, the new nickname or the "UND/North Dakota" option will be solidly in place at UND, and the Fighting Sioux cheers at games likely will be few and far between."

    http://www.grandforksherald.com/opin...uld-be-delayed
"Don't get me wrong, I have loved and adored the tradition of the Fighting Sioux name and what it means, but by now I've accepted the fact that a new name is looming. The only question is: why are we trying to find that name so soon?"

    http://www.grandforksherald.com/opin...yrannical-ncaa
"I think we should drop the NCAA, because now it's just trying to ban everything that North Dakota is."
"North Dakota State is a big part of the fabric of college football right now."
"North Dakota State is alive on the college football map."

Anyone who doesn't believe that the inevitable "Sioux Suck" chant heard at or surrounding the game on the 19th is going to be blown way way waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out of proportion by the nickname cabal is sadly mistaken. I'm not looking forward to seeing NDSU and all the good things that have been built up over the last decade or so getting dragged down into the sludge.

My guess is that both the Forum and Herald have already written the story.

If their crazy fans want to be known as North Dakota so they can unofficially be the Sioux and continue to use the name....then we should carry on our tradition and continue to chant "Sioux Suck." Seems logical right? But I do think that during the warmups and the students have noting else to do for an hour and a half; you will hear the chant. The articles for Sunday's Forum/Herald will be written before a single snap is taken.

Because, as everybody knows -- if your committee isn't getting the job done, the obvious solution is to form a bigger committee...

I was impressed there wasn't a suggestion for a new committee. Just a bigger one.
