So their big hang up against using Rough Riders was that it is already in use by a GF high school, therefore not unique enough. So they instead pick Fighting Hawks, in which somewhere around 30-40 colleges in this country use some form of Hawks in their nickname. Simply ingenious. Even have one in state already at Dickinson State.

As much as I would love them to have a mascot called Mike Hawk, I could see the Sioux forever crowd wanting to have the mascot named Tommy Hawk, and then demand that the logo be a tomahawk.
