When you play football, you gotta like the taste of blood, And 50 percent of the time, it's your blood.
It is characteristic of the unlearned that they are forever proposing something which is old, and because it has recently come to their own attention, supposing it to be new.

What has attendance "actually" been this year? Seems lots of comments about it not being full.
College of Business Alumnus
Attendance has been down a fair amount- almost exclusively because of the students. We eliminated a bunch of their seats and they still cant fill the student section. The GA seats have sold out every game, but the unexpected, extra, released seats on the day before the game have largely gone unsold as well. Which tells us that when people are told that tickets are sold out in 5 minutes in august, that they assume NDSU isnt lying.
And then a bunch of idiots take empty student section seats as "NO DEMAND", which obviously isnt true. The #1 indicator of ticket demand is exclusively how fast the GA seats sell on single tix day.
Average family of four has to scalp, win tickets on the radio, hope the away team doesn't sell their ticket allotment or donate a few hundred bucks to guarantee they can go to a game each year.
1. The FCS was the Best option for NDSU for a very long time.
2. As a general rule- the FCS sucks at football and has proven that is not committed to football at all.
3. It's time to go FBS
You would think that the athletic department could figure out a way to more effectively communicate the availability of these “rush tickets” not exactly a new concept.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie
You are right that it is mostly students, last Friday morning there were almost 2 entire sections available. But it certainly appears that a lot of others aren't showing up either as there are empty seats all over.
Tickets are $45/$55 endzone/sideline this year, I think that's just too high for casual fans considering the poor quality of opponents they've faced in most games. I know I'm not going to spend upwards of $300 to take my family to see them play some pud team.
Some schools issue tickets to students a a week prior and have deadlines for claiming 5-7 days before the next home game from what I can tell. For example, it appears Montana is telling student to claim their tickets for MSU Cats game, and that’s not until a week from this Saturday.
