Agreed on the idea that a water park or even general "tourist" attractions are missing. For a city/metro of our size, there really isn't much to do here. It wasn't big, but I spent a ton of time at I-29 amusement park as a kid..no way Fargo couldn't support something like that or much bigger.

Fargo could definitely support it. We have almost a quarter million people in the metro. We get people traveling from the lakes area and pretty much every direction including Winnipeg. The school system is growing and as far as population goes, we are one of the fastest growing metros in the nation (for medium sized cities)

That said the RRV Zoo is pretty pathetic for size Fargo is too. Pretty sure Roosevelt Zoo in Minot is at least the same size if not slightly bigger. Also weird why Fargo doesn't have an indoor or even outdoor waterpark of some sort other than the fairly measly ones at Ramada and Holiday Inn which I don't know if they allow just passes into the water park or not even? I think even some of the city pools have some items other than just a pool but still. 100,000 people and no real "destination" water park just some sideshow type of ones. Would think that they need to start coming up with more "destination" ideas to promote for tourists even just passing through for a 1/2 day.

Being on intersection of 2 interstates has to be good for getting traffic coming through town even if it is a 1/2 day or an overnight stay.

Fargo has the Davies water park. It's actually quite the operation. Max capacity of like 750 or something?

I think that qualifies as a "but still"...I would never tell somebody out of town that we are going to a water park and take them there...

It's not a tourist destination, I agree, but it is a pretty great place for the under 12 set.

I brought that up here because I thought if they split up the facilities NDSU could perhaps leverage that to get public funding for an IPF.

I never imagined it would veer off into a discussion about water parks.

Sorry. I should have known better.

Yeah but that's pretty mediocre. Besides only super creepy Rob Lowe goes to a school to swim. I'm talking about getting like the mother of all water parks. Something we could be proud of.
