What a terrible place to put a convention center. In an industrial area within smelling distance of their stinky lagoons and not close to anything interesting. I swear nobody around here knows how to plan a city.

On the flip side it's right by the fairgrounds.

There are a lot of Farm conventions that the fairground space could be very beneficial for. Heck I think you could have gone to one every weekend the last month in Fargo and some during the week. If they played it right they could probably turn Big Iron into a 10 day affair with more informative educational talks and classes and increase the national and international draw. With the right space set up with awesome camera and sound capture to go to internet streaming you could really turn educational opportunities into a must see for national and international farmers and related businesses. Heck the Hefty field day down north of Sioux Falls last year had over 10,000 people attend and Big Iron already gets over 70,000.

Agreed, a big convention center at the fairgrounds actually makes good sense considering everything and what the primary function would be. My dream/pipe dream would be that someday the roof comes off the dome, corners are filled, courtesy of the great city of Fargo. NDSU would be responsible for raising 50 million to put suites on both sides of the dome including a new east entryway and west entryway. Phase II would be a new basketball arena as was previously proposed.

West side is possible but the east side apparently can't support it. Something to do with the addition.

I just hope it they do an addition, they roll some of these items into it

Besides farm equipment, maybe add more large construction equipment.

Ya lots of space is the one thing that could make it unique from other options yet its not so out there that it is specialized.

Noticed on the builders exchange dome is requesting bids to modify seating for handicap seating in two of the corners but it will be in with existing seating areas it appears.
