I've been dissapointed with our program. No reason we can't be sniffing the top 25ish area and having some ranked wrestlers with an occassional All-American chance. We have a couple seniors that could make some noise. We have a bunch of freshman too. We're pretty young. Soldberg could be pretty salty too.

I have mentioned this before but the wrestling program IMO is the biggest disapointment of any sport at NDSU. We are perennially a "young/rebuilding" team.

09, you are right, we should have multiple guys in the top 25.....geeez. Not even a sniff for any of our guys.

Looking at our rosters over the years, we always have many underclassmen come in but when they get to be seniors, they are not there.

I'm sure someone will respond saying it is tough to compete against the Big 10/Big 12........Well, that is bull**it, IMO. Look who is #1 this year.....Cornell.

Look at some of the schools that have guys ranked: Cornell, Binghampton, Drexel, Princeton, Hofstra, Lehigh, George Mason, Old Dominion, Buffalo, Chattanoga, Utah Valley, Virginia Tech, Bucknell, Edinboro, N Colorado, Wyoming, UNI.........schools not from the 2 wrestling powerhouse conferences. Why don't the Bison have at least ONE guy in the top 25?????

The Bison should be a top 25 team every year. Not a NC competitor but we should be able to produce at least an All-American every few years and at least not get beat by DIII Augsburg.

Are those expectations too high for Bucky and this program??

If they are, it's time to go IMO . But I don't think they are. And it seems like every year we're rebuilding and when they finally get to the senior year they don't do much. We'll see I guess.

    This is our roster:

    Freshman: 10
    RFR: 5
    Sophs: 4
    Juniors: 3
    Seniors: 4

7 juniors and seniors this year........seems like this has been the trend since we have transistioned to DI.

Man, you would think with our rich wrestling tradition that there would be juniors and seniors dominating the weight classes....not fresh and rfr every year.

Must be recruiting the wrong kind of kid......

Seems to me that this year is going to play out just like the last 5-6 years......."reloading for next year"...."trying to recruit for DI"......."hoping the young guys come around".......

IMO, the time for excuses is over for the wrestling program......get it done!

That was a long time ago. You cant rely on that now.

PL....you're right but the wrestling program has still been the most underachieving in the AD.

For example look at last year when Oregon State came to Fargo ranked 21. They steamrolled us 42-0. A team just inside the top 25 and we couldn't even compete....at home even. Our win last year against #6 Boise State was against a lot of their reserves....their complete starting line-up would have rolled us up.

MN/Iowa, even ND has good wrestling and not all of the top ones can go to the Gophers/Iowa/Iowa State or Wisc....

Not a lot of BVers comment on wrestling but wrestling has the potential to be one of the best programs in the AD but have totally underachieved, IMO.

Division II national championships in 1988, 1998, 2000 and 2001.

That wasn't exactly a "long" time ago.
