Former Football Great Dick Hanson Named Interum President

I am going to pull a CA here and put something nonfootball in the football because of it's football ties. We as faculty received an email at 9:15 am announcing former football great Dick Hanson interim president for the rest of the year. His start date is yet to be determined. He is currently the president of Waldorf College in Iowa and spent a year with the NY Giants in 71-72. If memory serves me in my chase to get an NFL jerseys of all the Bison greats....didn't he play a year for the Vikings as well??????

Imagine if they would have made Provost Schnell the acting president and then decided to hire someone else after the National search. Not only may there be hard feelings, but he'd then be expected to accept the person hired as his boss. I agree with others, it was the best way to ensure the hiring process is as fair as possible and no expectations to hire based on the interim hire.

Thats I really great point, I never though of it that way. I was one of the people who thought that it would be better to have someone who has been here for awhile to smooth the transition but this is a great point.

I hope they take a serious look at Schnell for President. He has been with Chapman all the way and a huge supporter of Chapman's aggressive push for NDSU.
