His accuracy was crap at SDSU. Also got flustered, just didn't have the presence of mind at times in the pocket. It's a team sport, but sometimes the "star" has to take the hit for the rest of the team to pick up the slack.

Morale has to be pretty low at this time of the season for the team. I say you don't have a choice BUT to make that change, even more abrupt in the middle of a game. Isn't that how you sometimes come back from behind?

Jose Mohler should have been playing by about the third game last year. Not Nick's fault. He should have been a receiver or tight end. Mohler has a super-quick release just looks comfortable out there...after 3 plays. He has it.

Bohl went into a Walker coma and imagined that it was the genius of the coaching staff that allowed us to go 10-1 two years in a row...and to beat up MN and Central Michigan.

The fact is most teams dont liberally substitute different QBs just for them to get game experience or to see how well they perform in a game.
You only here those excuses from programs that are having difficulty. Just another woulda shoulda coulda excuse.

There was no way Mertens wasnt going to start this year. Especially after Jose took himself out of the competition.
