I was in Portland over the weekend and the amount of fans in local bars who were watching the track and field championships was incredible. We were watching the stanley cup final on Saturday night and while that game was on the two big screens in the middle, on both sides was the ESPNU feed with track and field. When Laura pulled away with 200 to go, the place erupted. Going to Oregon was great for her both as a student and an athlete. She leaves as a national champion and has a bright future.

Proud to have lived in North Dakota and see natives performing on the national stage regardless of where they go to school.

Roesler gets her chance to race against the big girls next weekend in the USATF outdoor championships in Sacramento. She comes in this year with the 8th fastest time. Five women come in with times under 2:00 and 2 women are under 1:58. Weather permitting, I think she has a great shot and breaking the 2 minute barrier.

Roesler signed with PACE Sports Management during the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, which concluded Sunday in Sacramento, Calif.

PACE Sports, based near London, has 50 clients, including Olympic champion sprinter Usain Bolt.

“We’re very selective,” said Ricky Simms, the director of PACE Sports Management. “We only represent a handful of U.S. athletes. And all of them are potential medalists at that level, and I think Laura fits into that.”

Laura won her first race as a professional today at the Gugel Games in Linz, Austria. Her time was 2:01:59.
