To me...most of the team has looked like they're afraid to make a mistake.

That has to stop...or this season will be awfully long.

That's exactly what I see. Not only among the players but the coaching staff. They kept it real vanilla in that first quarter. I think they're really trying to be careful with Mertens confidence. They only threw the ball once in the first quarter.

I couldn't agree more about the defense. They have no emotion, they don't celebrate together anymore and they don't get excited after big plays. I even see guys not getting to the ball after the play. I know for a fact that is not what they are taught. I'm afraid that without Joe Mays as an emotional leader they haven't found someone to step up and be the man. We'll see how it plays out this game, but they need to find some internal motivation to get the job done and be successful this year.

Did Wurz fumble on the play before the TD at the end of the half? Some guys on AGS, both Bison and SIU fans, are saying we caught a break.

I have a hard time seeing how that half (up until the TD could be worse). When is the last time a Bison D went into halftime without forcing a punt or TO?
