North Dakota State University athletic officials are reminding fans attending the four remaining home football games that Missouri Valley Football Conference rules clearly prohibit the use of all artificial noisemakers including thundersticks, clackers, cowbells, whistles, etc.

North Dakota State (2-2, 0-1 Valley Football) is scheduled to host Southern Illinois (2-1, 1-0 Valley Football) at 1:07 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, in the Fargodome. The game is a sellout.

The use of artificial noisemakers could result in a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty on North Dakota State.

Fans attempting to enter the Fargodome with artificial noisemakers will have them confiscated at the door.

Missouri Valley Football Conference Rule 4.4 a. states, "Artificial noisemakers shall not be permitted to be brought into or used in Valley Football stadiums. Member institutions shall not distribute or sell any item(s) that may be used as artificial noisemakers (e.g. "thundersticks", clackers, etc.)."

Most universities don't do much to police their own fans regarding this issue, but they sure do clamp down on the visitor section.
