If it is close to sellling out, gotta think Larsen is working on a game at US Bank next. Obviously the demand is there to make it work.
I can't think of anything more small-time than playing a neutral site game on the campus of another school.
Target is right in the heart of downtown, the weather will be gorgeous and the beer...
I was talking about level of competition, from a fans and facilities standpoint it isn't even a debate G5 dominates in every way.
I think there would a better level of competition in non-conference games, conference would be about the same and who knows in regards to postseason since it could vary wildly.
I don't think budgets are a massive issue if we are going to be a G5 team, App State is one of the best and their budget is $35 million.
If we could get to $40 million we would be doing very...
I watched App vs Penn State, looked like fun.
I'll watch GSU vs App tonight.
Completely agree, it is past time to move up. The FCS is mostly complete trash, I was watching the WIU game and pretty much said to myself WTF are we doing here....Time to get the ball rolling.
The Ivies that would bring a crowd and compete probably wouldn't play us...Grambling or Southern would be an ass-kicking.
The list of FCS teams we could play at neutral site and have it be...
It is kind of gimmick and kind of a special event to reach out to more fans. It is definitely something that will only work once with this type of opponent.
Downtown Minneapolis
FBS schools don't want to play us, our admin's hands are forced. They need to be creative or you stagnate and that is death.
They have a stadium in Fargo that is hard capped in regards to...
I would love to play Army, 1 game at Target and the other at their stadium. I would travel out there to see that game for sure.
That said Jeff Monken is their coach, not sure how excited he would...
I love the service academy idea and also Harvard or Yale. I think Yale played at Cal Poly a few years ago, so they are at least willing to venture out of their bubble every so often.
I guess...
I love downtown MPLS and Target is also my favorite stadium. Beautiful setting, I can see the point about tailgating though. I usually just park in a ramp if I'm going to a game there though so I'm...
That would make the most sense, each school gives up a home game.
I don't think there is going to be a massive season ticket holder revolt over a one time game.
A UND game would sellout easy but I can see the point of keeping it in ND.
I'm sure Bama would play us but some of those other schools have a host of regional sacrificial lambs they can line up. Sadly you don't get bonus points for beating/playing a tough FCS team. It isn't...
No but I've been Target Field a bunch of times and it seems like it would be better than some of other ballparks I've been to.
Gopher field in this pic but it shows what it would look like...

I do agree that part of it is a bit of a gimmick but you are doing it to attract some attention to the game. Not sure how the sightlines would be but Target would probably be better then most...
This is a great idea, especially to use as a special event for alumni with no potentially no FBS games for a while.
