You have a thing or two to learn about NCAA rules governing FBS scholarships and how the vast majority of FBS/BCS schools operate.
Kill intends to sign three offensive linemen for 2012 and has offered all three slots to Minnesotans: Isaac Hayes (committed), Jonah Pirsig (reportedly down to Minnesota and Iowa), and Nick Davidson...
I think that's it, Bison Dan. NDSU is too much of a powerhouse to risk playing. Must be why Iowa doesn't want to play the Bison either.
UNI is pretty much locked in to Iowa and Iowa State as its...
To return to the OP's question, not in the foreseeable future.
FBS schools are limited to playing one FCS team per year. Minnesota has the following FCS games scheduled after this coming season:
...
Joe Mollberg would be a terrific get for NDSU. Doubtful he'll get many (if any) BCS offers, but he should garner a number of offers from MAC and other lower-level FBS schools.
Minnesota has had some late decommits and official visit cancellations. Not saying Veldman's NDSU commitment isn't solid, but stay tuned; it could get interesting.
Whatever, Lakes.
Lakes--
Just to correct one erroneous bit of information in the source you cited: Veldman did not have an offer from Northern Illinois. All of his scholarship offers were from FCS schools.
And,...
Could be Frank Veldman. An excellent athlete.
Congratulations on Frank Veldman's commitment. A solid all-around athlete and an excellent FCS prospect. Picked the Bison over scholarship offers from SDSU and Southern Illinois and a walk-on offer...
Here's the sad truth, SDBison: year in and year out, Minnesota gets more national exposure and recognition by losing than NDSU does by going to the FCS playoffs. Nobody (and I mean literally nobody)...
It's confirmed: Bjorkland committed to Minnesota tonight as a grayshirt. He'll take the fall off and enroll on full scholarship next January.
Tim Brewster's available to coach tight ends. Has NFL coaching experience. :-)
Sorry, Silk, but WildBill is right--you missed the point, not him.
Regarding preferred walk-ons, there is no specific limit on the number of preferred walk-ons other than the roster limit itself....
Chris Monter of Scout reports that Heifort will be coming into the Gopher program as a tight end prospect.
Heifort confirmed it in an interview with Gopher Illustrated: he's accepted Minnesota's preferred walk-on offer.
Bryan knows of what he writes. A large majority of Rivals' vast premium membership pays its dues primarily to get up-to-the-minute, inside scoop on the recruits their schools are in on. It's said...
Yes, Rohr "signed" (committed) to Minnesota last summer while Brewster was still coach. Minnesota fans never thought much of him--two stars, 11th-rated player in Wisconsin, etc. Would have had to...
Do you mean Bjorkland? True; he's likely to be offered, and likely to accept, a scholarship by the Gophers this weekend.
Kill is energetically ramping up Minnesota's preferred walk-on program....
A couple of quick tidbits of U of Minnesota recruiting news with implications for the Bison:
UNI, having apparently landed Chaska (MN) DE and NDSU target Wyatt Peiffer, will apparently also...
Not sure if you all thought of Eden Prairie (MN) safety Grayson Levine as a possibility--doesn't appear so, based on the lists I've seen on this board--but just in case there was some hope in that...
Campion commitment to Minnesota confirmed. He's in Minneapolis and will sign his letter of intent today. He'll enroll in January and have full five-to-play-four eligibility.
Minnesota's Rivals...
Update on Grayson Levine:
In an interview published on Minnesota's Rivals site, Levine said he's hoping for an offer from Minnesota but that he really likes Northern Iowa as well. Guess here is...
Jarhead,
Re: the Minnesota kids who took unofficial visits to the U of M this past weekend:
No offers were extended, but there were a couple of developments.
Joe Bjorkland is definitely on...
With the Mountain West's recent acceptance of Fresno State and Nevada-Reno, the WAC will be down to six schools in 2011--too few, it seems, to survive as a major college football conference. With...
