Re: A new and better FBS thread

This is what we needed to happen. If they are truly rebuilding the PAC there is no reason for them to take ALL of the MWC teams to fill out the roster. All they need is a minimum of 5 more schools...

Not that this would happen but could NDSU if it had funding in place choose to opt into the highest level? Dellinger has stated that ANY d1 school could opt in.

Yes, not sure how this threat went off track. Liberty (from the CUSA) is the G5 representative in the NY6 bowl. So for all of those out there that hate on CUSA, they did accomplish something this...

Over the weekend, both JMU and JSU were included in bowl selection due to a lack of other eligible teams. They will be going to a bowl - just not sure which one yet.

Re: A new and better FBS thread

I think that knowledgeable fans would understand that the competition is stiffer (top to bottom) in the CUSA than the MVFC. There is little history with most of those teams however you can't tell me...

Re: A new and better FBS thread

In theory this makes sense with the big issue being media rights and the money it generates. This would have to be football only, as NDSU and Hawaii would now be in the same conference! :)

This is where I get lost. What is the mechanism for conferences getting more money? If media contracts are where the money comes from that either comes from new tv markets (where the school...

Re: A new and better FBS thread

I agree that the MVFC wouldn't do it as a whole however if we could get one or two others (primarily in our region of the country) to do this, that would be a great way to get a conference like CUSA...

Re: A new and better FBS thread

I couldn't agree with this more. I have never really spent much time thinking about how our problem is really that MN and WI don't have FBS football at a second school. You've got a point and an...

Re: A new and better FBS thread

Isn’t all of this a gamble? Say or go nothing is certain. Going D1 was a big gamble. It paid off but it could’ve gone much much worse. Right now we’re waiting for an invite (that we can’t...

Re: A new and better FBS thread

Not arguing that RIGHT NOW, football, is what drives the athletic budget. 5 years from now we'll be looking at home football attendance at sub-9000 fans. Anyone remember the Babich years?

    When...

Cash Cow? There is a significant number of fans that have severe apathy towards the program right now. Do we think that number will get smaller or bigger? At some point, the ROI on spending for...

Re: A new and better FBS thread

Going to Frisco is winning a playoff against like 3-4 other teams every year. Since we've won so much, there is no value (to the university) to winning more.

Let's just reduce our spending by...

I feel like it's the right time to ask this question.... If NDSU is in fact shut out of the FBS, what is the point of funding football to the level that we currently do? Could we slash our football...

Why would the 2 remaining PAC schools need to do a reverse merge with the MWC?

How many votes are needed to vote to eliminate exit fees for the MWC? That's really the only number that the...

Re: A new and better FBS thread

If this were to happen, the only hope for NDSU is if the MWC or AAC were to try to steal from one another in hopes of securing it's spot as the highest rated G5. This battle (if it were to happen)...

At a NCAA level, I think that it would be tough to mandate a total dollar amount in grants, given that there is a wide ranging cost associated with tuition. Private schools would have the upper hand...

The reality is that any 2 current PAC schools that remain are more valuable than any G5 team. The PAC will be inviting the best possible G5 teams and once that happens they will get a contract (that...

NDSU would certainly fudge the numbers to meet whatever criteria is in place. There are a number of G5 schools that will struggle with these and so ultimately this will go by the wayside. Schools...
