Wow, that's rough for the Horizon *and* the MVC. Just think that WSU, Creighton, and Loyola were all in the MVC. That conference would almost be a high major if they all had stayed there.
I like the idea of northern schools banding together. I realize the name comes from DII days, but a north central or north western conference could work like a newer version of the mountain west. ...
I think he did a great job. I like the Summit League for the most part.
Probably looking at Denver U
This is great news! I would love to see them up and running in Fall 2020 as ridiculous as that would be.
So this means that St. Thomas is in and got whatever waivers they needed?
Basketball is different from football because we are mid-major regardless. A 10 team Summit could have some benefits, and both of these schools are better than Centenary College which was a part of...

Would you have a North/South, or East/West configuration? Those teams would make more sense in the Big West or Big Sky.
I am sad to see IPFW leaving. They were a good team and had some great...
This isn't what you were going for, but we could still form a Big North FBS/Mid-Major conference with the critical mass of 4 Dakota and 2 Montana schools. Is it difficult/impossible for an entire...
I realize that UMKC to the Summit may not be a big deal, but I don't see anything on ESPN about this at all. All the conference news is about UConn.
I'm glad they're back and wish they were...
It's just really difficult for me to think that the state of South Dakota could have 3 division 1 basketball teams, while Minnesota has one; Wyoming has one; Wisconsin has two.
I would be more...

Pretty interesting thinking about 5 Dakota schools being DI.
I can't believe UND had a chance to be named the Roughriders after a president's efforts in war... and went with a bird. Fight or Flight?
Way to go, Flighting Hawks. :facepalm2:
I absolutely love the name Leathernecks. Such a good team name to have in a football conference. Also, they should stay Summit/MVFC long after we leave.
UNC would be great.
This would be good.
I did not realize that the Summit attendance last year was 40.8% higher than Southland's (2080 to 1477), and I can see the Summit improving on that this year. No wonder ORU wants out. That said,...
Any linky?
First of all, I'm not getting my hopes up for conference stability yet. However, even if we do get into a conference like this for most sports, at least our football wouldn't require BSC-type travel.
Good points. In fact I believe Oakland was added when it made its transition to DI. Perhaps our conference can be the sought after upper midwest conference for athletics in transition, and then...
Anybody have any inklings on any Summit acqusitions?
So then IUPUI and IPFW?
You know, part of the fun of Bisonville is the ability to dream and make up these conference scenarios. I haven't played any college football or basketball video games, but I wonder if they have the...
