The difference is SDSU is just now enjoying their first success and spotlight in FCS that NDSU has had for a decade. Give it a few more years and maybe the novelty will have worn off. If we move to...
I tend to agree.
A reasonable scenario is something like NDSU/SDSU/UM/MSU going to MWC as a package deal.
However, if the destination was MAC instead, it could be only one school taking the #14...
This is where we disagree.
MAC likely will go to 14. WKU was rumored for that spot, but recent CUSA news that came along with the Missouri St add is that WKU will not be moving anytime soon. So...
I'm not sure CUSA will add any more schools for a while. 12 is a pretty good number for a conference, and allows them to go to divisions if they choose with some cross-divisional play. That cuts down...
It's not a rational gamble until all other avenues have been fully exhausted.
There would be huge expenditures, with a low probability of success. The system is aligned against it.
I'm just saying the best path in is to join MWC or MAC. We should be lobbying the hell out of them, and it does sound like those conversations have been happening.
If someday the doors actually...
Liberty was a very unique case.
They applied for a waiver, after going to major media publications threatening a lawsuit on religious discrimination grounds. The backstory is that a few FBS...
Exactly, we were never on the shortlist, which has been somewhat leaked various places. Missouri St has been floating out there for a few months for people that know where to look. They had...
That's an awesome new FCS conference you are creating.
NCAA/FBS rules make it pretty much impossible to create a new FBS conference without existing FBS schools. And even that would be a...
Missouri St has markets, size, and location. We need an opening in either MWC or MAC. The other 3 (AAC,SBC,CUSA) are pipe dreams for some of our fans. G5 are very focused on location.
Yep, for most FBS conferences its all about markets and location. We've never been on CUSA's shortlist. They will add Tarleton and SFA before looking our way.
MWC is really a much better fit for...
MW is obviously where we fit best. Still TBD how everything shakes out with the PAC-2. There's a lot of rumblings they are still trying to rebuild and break off with a group of the "top" G5 schools...
Wonder if Logan's departure had anything to do with this?

Seems to be resigning for another job, gave a nice farewell.
I'd guess maybe moving up to the bigs like ESPN/ABC, or maybe a bigger role at another station.

We don’t have pure, unregulated capitalism in America for a reason, it always ends up in monopoly or a small oligopoly at best.
In this case, the P2 are becoming a powerful duopoly that will soon...
If that happened, it might be a real blessing.
Time for a clean slate, they can take richman with them.
Yes, and the current NIL system seems setup to exploit fans - “please contribute to help pay Johnny QB $1m so he won’t run off to BigTime U where they have more fans and money”
It’s a system built...
Even the NFL has spending caps, college sports now doesn't.
Because of the massive disparity in revenue, this means we won't have anything close to parity.
Big schools will just harvest players...
Comes down to spending priorities though.
Take the money from the Alston payments, and could probably have kept Grant Nelson, and maybe a new coach too.
I like basketball, and would probably...
Oh, I expect the P2 will leave *and* be assholes about it, taking as much revenue as possible with them. It’s a question of when, not IF. They want to be NFL lite.
That argument holds for the top power conferences, but not the vast majority of NCAA schools.
Therein lies the problem. Alabama, OSU, Michigan, etc do in fact generate many millions in profit.
...
There's some truth to this for sure.
The P2 (SEC/B10) are driving towards unlimited spending in every sport, and will likely break off as a pro/semi-pro division in time.
If they need to leave...
UMass was previously one of those mistakes. UMass had to give up A10 basketball to rejoin.
Pretty sure they won't touch FB only, it will be all or nothing membership if offered.
True, the real challenge is a lack of G5 schools nearby, which is the next logical step.
Still think we could make MWC work if they decide to expand. That conference is a bit more spread out and...
They left AAC for Big East Basketball, which drives the bus at UConn.
Rumors are they may cave and join a conference though, they are the only true Indy FBS team left, and don't have the deal ND...
