What about the other 98% of college athletes who don’t generate any revenue? Should they have their scholarships revoked since many sports don’t generate enough revenue to even cover that cost?

I get that, but you’re basically talking a half million dollars. Plus, we all know how these NCAA ‘requirements’ have worked in the past. This rule won’t be a determining factor at all in a move-up.
If we are fully funded right right now that’s 191 scholarships. Adding 22 would put us above the minimum requirement. I don’t think the total aid piece would be a problem.
That’s a silly take. They’ll save millions in coaching salaries, travel costs, and athletic department support staff.

see if this link works for you. Gives a synopsis of what happened.
Either Mayville or Valley City should be closed. And maybe one of either Lake Region or Bottineau. This will never happen though.
The MWC basketball payout is about 200,000/school. So you know, you’re only off by a factor of 10.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say it’s because NDSU isn’t in the Mountain West.
And if they don’t?
Thats a fair point, but I think womens’ wrestling could be added fairly cheaply.
Especially since he probably doesn’t know what ‘hyperbole’ means.
The article I referenced the above numbers from said the MW currently has 10 credits. Last years credits were worth about $290,000 each. Prior years credits worth slightly less.
Each Mountain West team received about $260,000 in 2021 from basketball tournament credits.
Wrestling is my 2nd favorite sport to follow at NDSU. MAC wrestling would absolutely suck compared to the Big 12.
Finding teams to play is not a challenge. Finding 5-6 home games would be an unenviable task.
NMSU and Liberty are set to join CUSA. UConn and Umass are still independent along with Army. I just don’t think any of those teams would be willing to come to Fargo.
The home schedule would...
NDSU football is analogous to a company with a great engineering team that develops a remarkable product, but has a terrible marketing team that doesn’t know how to sell it. And right now Matt Larsen...
Hard to quantify for some programs. App State and Georgia Southern will never win another national title, which they did regularly in FCS. If you equate a bowl appearance every year or so with...
Boise State would be out of the time frame he used, i.e. last 10-15 years. The list would be Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, FIU, FAU, UMASS, Old Dominion, South...
Quit thinking so small.
2.3 million? Let's leave fantasyland for a second and look at the actual numbers. These were reported by the Coloradoan. I have no idea why the money is distributed the way it it, but best case...
The bolded may have been true ~5 years ago, but the MW isn't what it used to be. Hell, Wyoming has a decent chance to finish in the top half of the conference this year. No Utah, no BYU, no TCU,...
No it shouldn't. It should be branded as a national university with very high research activity.
Perhaps, that's still not very many tv sets in the eyes of the people who decide these things.
