Back then I Cant remember. But that may be true.
Its been a long time and would have to find my CLI to see the wording. BUT I dont think you could flip to another team in the conference. As in you cant do that and you wont be allowed to play there....
There is a dead period but cant remember when that is-was.
They used to have a Conference Letter of Intent. Which a recruit would sign and it meant that no other team WITHIN that conference could pursue that recruit. But he was still fair game to all other...
As a rule the coaching staffs KNOW that other schools are in play until the kid is signed. Thats why they have a #2 on the board. That kid may wait until the # 1 makes a decision or not.

What???? We offered a kid who had already verballed? NO NO NO! Whats happened to the supposed code of ethics some were espousing that schools need to follow?
I will not fault a kid for changing his mind. Especially when coaches arent held to the same standard. Its a hell of a decision for an 18 year old to make.

But coaching staffs hold a kid in limbo all the time with the ---you are our # 2 but if we dont get # 1 your our guy. Theres a lot of cat and mouse in the recruiting game depending on the school....
Its a big decision for a kid that age. A lot of people tugging on him to go here or there. Recruiting visits can be a whirlwind. So much information to digest. Plus hes probably playing another sport...
What did NDSU offer Jaxon? If they offered him a scholarship thats not exactly winning a recruiting battle.
