Re: The Easton Stick Mega Thread

In the NFL (or any pro sports league for that matter) coaches are pretty dispensable it seems and that team, top to bottom, flat out quit. Remember these Raiders were shut out by the freaking Vikings...

Is there any kind of limit on assistants in the NFL? If not, it would seem to be a more prudent option to just cut Daniel and hire him as assistant QBs coach or something? Roster spots are pretty...

Re: The Easton Stick Mega Thread

Being a wiley old veteran mentor QB is the best gig in the NFL... saw on Twitter that Daniel has earned $158k for every NFL (regular season) pass he's attempted. That's pretty impressive for a guy...

Might not be the worst thing for him to get away from the Chargers. Herbert likely isn't ceding control of that job anytime soon. Maybe they can trade him or if they try to stash him on the practice...

Re: Easton Stick! We got him!

There was a trade market for him and likely still is. When they drafted Herbert last year there were reports that multiple teams reached out interested in trading for Easton. Getting an actual...

Random thought: If Easton is going to have limited NFL starts I hope he gets them next year or thereafter. It would be pretty cool to have three former NDSU QBs all starting for NFL teams at the same...

I'll never forget him fumbling late in that Super Bowl and not diving on the loose ball when he had the chance basically giving Denver the game. Did I mention this was in the 4TH QUARTER OF THE SUPER...

He's only under contract for this next year. This is likely his last year with the Chargers and he'll sign elsewhere as an unrestricted free agent next offseason... or if the Chargers try to keep him...

The NFL is a copycat league and everyone saw how Taysom Hill damn near beat the Vikings singlehandedly in the playoffs running, throwing, and catching the ball.... Stick has that kind of skill set...

The Chargers are reportedly "moving on" from Philip Rivers leading to increased speculation that they'll be targeting a QB with the 6th pick in this next NFL draft.

Agreed, while we're all impatient and want Stick to get his chance I think the best thing for him this year is to develop on the sideline, in the film room, and in practice. Next preseason will be...

Re: Easton Stick! We got him!

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Chargers in the market for a 1st round QB with as high as their pick will likely be next April. They didn't draft Stick to be their franchise QB. I suspect he's...

Re: The Easton Stick Mega Thread

I don't think he's necessarily a free agent right away if he gets cut. He needs to clear waivers but if any team claims him off waivers they need to make room for him on their final 53.

Re: The Easton Stick Mega Thread

You'd think so. I've heard of teams cutting day 3 picks in their first training camp but it's usually 7th round picks. A 5th round pick certainly isn't a throwaway. I'd think most teams that draft...

Re: The Easton Stick Mega Thread

Just a shot in the dark mostly but I would guess they'll carry 3 QBs because they'll be worried that Stick won't clear waivers if they try to sneak him onto the practice squad.

I think it's plausible if he has a pedestrian preseason. Seems like most NFL teams only like to carry 2 QBs on their active roster and they have a pretty high priced veteran backup in Tyrod Taylor...

I think next year is likely when that #2 spot opens up. Taylor has a dead cap number of $6M this year and a cap hit of $3.5M so (unless I'm misunderstanding how that works) he's cheaper to keep than...

Following a legend has pros and cons. It doesn't seem as though the LA market has embraced the Chargers like they embraced the Rams (pretty sure they struggle to sell out a 35k seat soccer stadium)...
