Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
Forecast for Oklahoma City looks like kind of a mess Thursday and Thursday night. According to the weather channel 3-5" of snow on Thursday and 1-3" of ice overnight Thursday night. They drive like idiots down there too when the white stuff starts falling.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
The Bison have landed!!!!!
We drove in to Frisco at the stroke of midnight. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
Almost forgot this one---
After we left the house we stopped at Twin Pines Resort on Lake Millacs to say hi to Bill and Linda the owners. While there we met a group of Bison fans. Their father played in the late 70s and their uncle in Chuck Mertens. They were all driving down on thursday. They got their tickets from the EWU allotment.

Well that sucks. Thanks for the heads up.

Watch your speed through Sioux City. There is always a photo-enforced radar set up there. Travel safely, everyone.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
Departing Burbank Thursday morning. Rented a house just two blocks from Hutchins BBQ. Hitting up 6 Flags Over Texas Friday

It's been updated this morning. Still 1-3" of snow and ice overnight Thursday into Friday but during the day now it just says "periods of mixed winter precip" with no accumulation estimates. Seemed kind of wierd they were predicting that much during the day Thursday for OKC when Wichita was supposed to be completely dry and Frisco was just supposed to get a little rain/wintry mix. So hopefully that 3-5" of snow on Thursday for OKC was just a New Year's prank by those dirty weather terrorists.
EDIT: And now they say ~1" of ice during the day Thursday and 1-3" of snow overnight into Friday. So hopefully it won't be too bad for us seasoned winter drivers. :)

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
We are planning on leaving Fargo at 6:00 tonight. Any other road reports through bunny land? Doesn’t take much for 29 to suck.

NOBODY can drive on ice! OK does absolutely nothing relative to salt until it is too late and then it is only on bridges. KS and TX are much better relative to winter road maintenance.
That said, the forecast looks a bit better going down Hwy 75 rather and I-35
-
Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
Last time I made that trek OK was awful. Bisonville was so helpful calling out tough spots and warning everyone.
We ended up getting off the freeway in Guthrie and taking a State highway up that ran parallel-ish which was pretty much empty and we could drive at our own pace.

I live in dfw and travel to and from msp a couple times a year. South of KC I always go I 49 to Joplin, then i44 (ok will Rogers turnpike) to us 69 and then south to us 75 into McKinney Plano. I never take i 35 north of dfw.

We drove Fargo to Topeka today. Twas a sheet of ice from the ND line to past Watertown. I drove 60-65 through it no problem. Lots of sanding going on. Don't be stupid and you will be fine.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
I realized today that I booked January 2020 instead of 2019 :(
I was surprised that (luckily) there are still some rooms available. Now staying at Holiday Inn Express Frisco....anyone else stayed/staying there? I'm anticipating a room full of green and yellow for breakfast.

Did Road make it to Frisco? All weve seen of Bison fans is 2 at the CheeseCake Factory and a car with Bison flags.

You did make it to DFW though, right? I'm not in until Thursday but I'll catch up with you!

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
Ate at La Haienda Ranch on Preston Road. Best beef fajitas Ive ever had. The beef just fell apart as you ate it. Excellent.
If anyone likes frozen Custard there is now a Andys Frozen Custard north of the stadium on Frisco dr. and Eldorado. Great custard.

Huh and all this time I bought it was Joose and mediocrity.
We are almost to Watertown. It’s been glare ice, 50 mph, and 4 wheel drive since sisseton.
-
Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2019
I should include that st least there were wheel tracks from the border to sisseton

Though we normally go through OKC, I'm open to going though KC this year. Looks like staying east of OKC might me better due to the weather on Thursday (we'll see). Google Maps recommends taking Hwy 69 to Joplin instead of instead of I49. Is I49 the recommend route? Doesn't appear to be much longer and I assume the speed limit is higher. Thanks.
