Re: A new and better FBS thread
ACC adding SMU, Stanford, and Cal, bringing the ACC to 18 teams. 30% media shares for Stanford and Cal while SMU will forgo media shares for 7 years.
Seems like a great deal and move for the existing ACC teams and the conference. Helps close the revenue gap between the top ACC schools and the power 2, while providing more stability for the conference, and adding some really good schools.
AAC potentially with an opening.

Re: A new and better FBS thread
If NDSU could somehow snag SMU's spot in the AAC, that'd be great.
Not having a travel partner for non-revenue sports probably hurts, but this seems like the last real opportunity for NDSU in this realignment window.
Hopefully there is an active and aggressive push from one or both of NDSU admin or the AAC to make that happen.
Re: A new and better FBS thread
AAC will go after Sun Belt teams before FCS NDSU.

For this reason I have no idea why people think the AAC would even acknowledge our existence.
Only hope was a desperate Mountain West. We almost got it

Hell theyd maybe be smart to try and snag Oregon State-Wash State. Maybe even add in a few others out west. That scenario would maybe open something up for us in MWC.

It’s over. The dream is dead.

Agree. They'll likely stay in footprint (costs) and try to stay in Texas after losing SMU (DFW market).

Aresco has said the AAC already has their contingency plans, and would be fine at 13.
They will most likely invite someone like Texas St, Georgia St, WKU, MTSU, or stand pat. They had 11 teams previously.
We need to hope something causes a cascade in MWC still, or maybe look at MAC.
WSU/OSU joining either AAC or MWC probably wouldn't help.
Ideally those two still make a run at rebuilding PAC somehow.

I can't imagine the MAC has any desire to add a team outside of their little footprint. They also seem very happy with their lot in life, a middling G5 conference that reminds me of the MIAC or Northern Sun Conference. Tight knit and happy to simply exist.
