North Carolina A&T to the Big South

This has potentially big ramifications across the FCS since it further destabilizes the MEAC. It may mean the Celebration Bowl is not going to be a thing much longer. It strengthens the Big South significantly making it into a likely multi-playoff bid conference every year. If the Celebration Bowl goes away that also may mean the MEAC comes back into the playoff fold as well or there may be a mass exodus of other schools from the MEAC now. It'll be interesting to see how the dominoes fall from this move.
Re: North Carolina A&T to the Big South
This was being discussed here at work today. Should be interesting. I like that it may bring some other teams into the playoff fold.
Re: North Carolina A&T to the Big South
Kinda blows up the "Celebration Bowl is the best thing ever, look at all the money and exposure we get" argument...

Did not see this coming. I thought they were going FBS? Purple

The Big South is turning into a decent league.

This is a fairly big deal for an HBCU to shun their cash cow bowl and leave their hbcu conf to pursue greater competition and playoffs. Maybe this move is an FBS stepping stone, but a bold move none the less.
It’s not as big of a deal as Yale calling bullshit on the Ivy and joining the Patriot . . . Now that would be a big myth buster of the IVy charade.
Re: North Carolina A&T to the Big South
Its a hell ova lot bigger than that.
Their president voted to end ties with their institutional peers for football.
I think that's stupid.
Re: North Carolina A&T to the Big South
I'm waiting to hear their reasons and don't know if football is the driver here.
Sounds like their travel is going to get a lot easier though.

The "company line" is on this Twitter thread: https://twitter.com/ncatsuaggies/sta...93826444333057
Lots of stuff like "it's in the best interest of student athletes for travel and school/sports balance" and "new opportunities to move forward". What I thought was interesting was they said they contacted 8 conferences both FCS and FBS... apparently they were itching to get out of the MEAC for some reason.
