I would guess they didn’t plan to play him against Montana State but had to when Sproles was out. It’s that simple.

If it comes to a late game Hail Mary pass by JMU, I hope this time the defense knocks it down, and not try to catch it. Because in an alternate universe this happened the last time JMU and NDSU played in the championship game. NDSU player, I think it was Chris Board almost caught the ball on the three yard line.

that is some string theory-esque speculation right there...
Re: Official NDSU v JMU Championship 2.0 Speculation Thread
Two big worries I have about their offense. First their stretch zone or wide zone runs. They run zone really wide and they have fast running backs that break good runs. I'm concerned because Hanke is a little slow and our DTs haven't been dynamic playmakers this year. Need to figure that out. Second, the jump balls to Stapleton. He can bail out their offense in a bind. Please cover him.
Minor concern is the quarterback scrambling. I noticed so far in the playoffs he scrambles up the middle. Can be a problem because our LBs bail deep in coverage which could leave him room to run. I think Entz and Braun are clever enough to keep him from running too much, like using stunts regularly. Plus, he seems to get rattled after a few hits.

I think Ben needs to be hit early and often. He’s no Trey Lance.

Have we played anyone who have run the same offense?
