Re: Offense : Trend or Mirage Last 7 games.
Roehl needs to stop trying to pound the damn ball up the middle and realize he doesn't have the same oline, rb's and qb he used to, get Kobe and Bussey on the edge and let their speed work in your favor. Gindorf should be a weapon down the seam like Ellefson was and give Zeb some easy screen passes FFS!
Re: Offense : Trend or Mirage Last 7 games.
Ding, Ding, Ding! When you look at our last 4 QB's (each one won a national championship or two) and the current one, which one doesn't look like the others? Zeb can't run the historic Bison offense like the other QB's, he doesn't have that kind of talent. I don't think Zeb is a very good QB and Cam Miller showed us nothing, but we have to play with what we got and we have enough talent to win, but to do so, we need to adjust. Watson can't catch unless he's wide open and gets lucky enough that his arm cradle works. He's fast, get him the ball some other way, or teach him to catch the damn ball with his hands - that's fucking coaching, coach him up. Two guys who can catch the damn ball are Gindorff and Babicz, plus they are giants, lob the ball to them and let them get 4-5 yards play after play. Kobe Johnson likes to run into his O-lineman's butts, which gains zero yards, so maybe you sit him and let someone else run the ball and then show him the film of how to run the ball. On D, we essentially play a 4-1-6 defense - four down lineman, a middle linebacker, three strong safeties, a FS, and two CB's. When you play a team like SIU that's going to run straight at you with large people, maybe you pull out your two extra strong safeties - Kaczor and Cox - and put in some real sized linebackers like Weerts and Hendricks.

Agreed. Where is the Morlock wheel rout TD machine play? How about the McNorton screen that NDSU ran a lot in 2010 and the TD against SHSU in 2011 title game? How about a WR screen to Watson?
It seems like the coaches are worried to open up the playback. Do we have so many young players that don't know enough of the playbook?
Thoughts?

well with the practices last fall and this spring, you'd think these coaches couldve gameplanned a couple scenarios.
if they NEVER set the scoreboard at 0-20 at halftime and said. "ok lets plan this attack out to get back into this game, then they are incompetent or arrogant"
and yea. the NDSU staples are gone, the wheel route, the te rollout into flat, screens of any kind, TE Seam play, the off tackle blast with the double down block. my god.
Re: Offense : Trend or Mirage Last 7 games.
We need to coach the receivers how to react to that corner blitz that absolutely ate us alive. Every other MVFC team saw that tape, and we'll get a lot more of it if we don't adapt.

Yeah. There's a reason D1 schools don't send 180 pound backs up the gut 20 times a game. They get hurt. It's not a question of toughness, it's just simple anatomy.
How on earth did our backfield get so depleted?

Cofield- Transfer, Wilson - Injured, Clark - Left program, Stewart- transfer.
Losing 4 of your top 5 RBs in 5 months before season means your gonna be left a little light
