That's awesome playing 5 freshman at once. Right now they will do frustrating things but think about how good they could be when they are juniors and seniors. Every year these ladies will get better and build towards a peak their senior season. You get that many players practicing and playing full seasons together and you get a cohesive unit that will have seen everything. They will know exactly what the other is thinking. Could be dangerous. It actually reminds me of the first men's team that went to the Big Dance. Tons of seniors who progressively got better. Actually Amy Ruley did something similar in her early days.
Good win last night. It was not pretty by both teams, but we found a way to stay focused and get the lead and hold on to it. We still are not closing out good enough on outside shooters. There was on time Denver had a shot under the basket and the girl missed her shot and got her rebound and did that like 3-4 times in a row. Instead of boxing her out after she shot, we stood there looking at the ball. Box the opponent out and you will get the rebound. The other thing that needs work, unless I just miss it, is coaching the players when they get subbed out. No matter if they are doing good or bad there is a teaching moment every time.
I have watch a lot of BB in my day and may have never seen a player play so poorly for three qtrs then play so good in the 4th as Sarah did last night. She went from doing almost nothing right, 6 turnovers 0 points through 3 qtrs, then in the 4th she could do no wrong. Not only was it amazing but it shows some mental toughness! Good for her, hope this carries over and is a confidence builder.
