Re: 2020 Verbal: Seth Anderson
Assuming the offer from Kansas was commitable chalk up the first P5 head-to-head win of the recruiting year for NDSU. Great job coaches and welcome Seth!

Re: 2020 Verbal: Seth Anderson
Awesome! Love the guys that have played under Freeney previously that we had recruited.

Re: 2020 Verbal: Seth Anderson
Wow, we just locked down our next starting left tackle. Seth will be able to understudy with current and next NFL bound LT in DR. Huge get!

Re: 2020 Verbal: Seth Anderson
180 pounds as a sophomore and now he weighs 270. My guess is defensive tackle.

Yeah unless you know something I'd guess tackle too with his size. 260-270....

I like this kid, and we beat out the FBS schools.

At NDSU he would be a big DE at 270. Going back to 2015 Waege is the heaviest at 260 and others are typically less than 250.

I know thats his plan and it sounds like coaches are going to give him the option. But if you have the skills to be a multi-year starter at LT for NDSU that means you will at the minimum get a few NFL camp invites. If you have a good measureables to go along with that, you will get drafted. Either way, the kid has talent and a motor. So pumped we got him. I wonder what he looks like 15 months post Kramer?

Damn, that's wild. Manbearpig in 15 months no doubt. 1/2 man 1/2 bear 1/2 pig

Isn't his dad a former SDSU player? Maybe I am wrong.

Either a DE or 3 technique DT maybe? Cant remember the last time we had a 270 pound DE. Definitely not an edge DE so possibly a LDE.
If 270 is the most his frame could support, probably not tall enough for a OT or heavy enough for a OG.
I predict either a LDE or a 3 technique DT. Or maybe both?

In the D1 era two have been close:
Christian Dallas 2006, 6'3" 267
Justin Juckem 2010, 6'4" 267. switched to NG at 291 in 2011.

What a pipeline of insanely good looking fit men.

Christian Dallas slimmed down though and was 6-3, 255 his senior year

Justin Juckem... mad respect for that kid. He basically played through insane amounts of pain to contribute. If I remember correctly, didnt have much cartridge in either knees and he played through some mega pain and contributed to the Championship

I’d rather have the best lineman on the field at left tackle. Our linebacking corps will generate pressure, and we need to keep Lance off his back.

I'd rather have the best players on OUR field. Dude wants to play d, let's give him a shot! Maybe that was the difference between keeping or losing the kid

Yep, recruiting studs on both lines should be the #1 priority in recruiting each and every year. It all starts there. Give me all the Seth Andersons you can get on both sides of the trenches and you've got a great foundation to build on.

We certainly need to protect the QB but on the other hand, linebackers can't do their job without someone keeping blockers off of them.

You also want proto typical size at LT and at 6-4, 260, he is undersized. We got our bookends last year with the 6-7 Jake Rock and Hunter Poncius. We also just recruited the 6-8 Miller kid from Ada Borup.
Seth Anderson is prototypical at the 3 technique or possibly LDE. Maybe if he can get to 300 hes a Center or Guard but that seems like it would take insane amounts of work just to get him to that weight and keep his quickness. He could play DE at his current size or DT at 270-280.

He's also 17 and just finished his junior year in High School. Big guys don't quit growing at 17.

I agree. In pass blocking, height and long arms are valued, as well as quick feet.
