Re: 2020 Verbal : Trey Steinbach
Welcome Trey Steinbach!
Also a TE in addition to LB, probably caught some TD’s from Trey Lance as a soph. Any relation to Terry Steinbach? - Trey is also a baseball player.
Had an offer from Northern Iowa last spring, but was racking up D2 offers since then - Wayne State, Northwest Missouri, Augustana, Concordia St Paul so may be a PWO.
Steinbach and teammate Yaya Black visited Fargo last season together before Black’s recruiting went crazy (Iowa commit). Was hoping Yaya Black would be the next Derrek Tuszka, but......

Re: 2020 Verbal : Trey Steinbach
sdsu was all over him, so getting him a pwo before sdsu offers or others is great. Trey being a star here helps, keep that pipeline going.

Yes he is, but remember that's high school height and weight. Realistically I'm assuming 6'2 - 6'3 at best and 205 maybe 210. Still a good size kid.

Marshall Tigers gear up for the MN playoffs (1 regular season game left), defeat Waseca 27-8 Friday, now 7-0 on the season.
Bryce Lance (2021) at WR with 97 yards receiving and a Int on D.
Now has 535 yards receiving on the season, 5th all-time in school history.

Said on Dom's show that he was recruited to play D-end.

Since we learned he will be playing DE... he probably is 6-3 or 6-4. We probably wouldn't recruit a kid playing a new position unless he has the prototypical 6-4 DE frame
-
Re: 2020 Verbal : Trey Steinbach
He's basically the same size as a HS Senior as SDSU DE Reece Winkelman was, who also came from Marshall and is up to 250 lbs as a third-year sophomore.
Here's his Hudl profile: https://www.hudl.com/profile/8007406/Trey-Steinbach
(Teammate notes, if anyone cares: No. 9 is Lance's lil brother, No. 74 is committed to Iowa)

And I think you should check the roster. Most of the Fr and RFr DE’s listed are 6’2” to 6’3”.

Right but most of our DEs played DE all through high school or they have elite quickness. Their not guys learning a new position.
We dont have great DE size after Tuszka graduates. Outside of Waege, were not overly huge which is a little concerning
6-4 is prototypical for FCS which is Treys size. Of course Emmanuel was only 6-3 and Menard 6-2
I'm partial to the 6-4 Colter Boyers or 6-5 Kole Jiriks and Derrick Tuszka types

Yep he was only 6-2... but quick as a cat with long ass arms. Emmanuel was only 6-3 but he was so strong and athletic it was almost comical.

I've stood next to both and way more than an inch separates the two. One is pretty tall, the other is closer to my height (Dom and Jeff have joked about it in the past a few times - https://bisonmedia.areavoices.com/ca...5-greg-menard/). With that said, both were great players that manhandled the opposition.

I am 6ft even- I met Greg Menard at the Target Field game this year- and he was MAYBE an inch taller than me by my estimation and some of that could have been the hair honestly. His arms did seem longer than normal.

Re: 2020 Verbal : Trey Steinbach
The exaggeration on football heights and weights is almost comical, it's that bad. Menard is not 6'2", Ambrosius is not 6'4", Morlock is not 6'2". Those are three of the players I've stood next to in street clothes, Menard is maybe 6'. Talked face to face with Chase 3 years ago,I'm just over 6', he is not taller than me. Why is football so hung up on measurables? I'm always way more impressed with their fitness, they all seem to have the right proportion of muscle/height. And very low fat.

Re: 2020 Verbal : Trey Steinbach
I seen Menard also at Target field and thought he was close to 6’2”. Morlock was never listed at 6’2” to my knowledge. Always remember seeing him at 5’11” and 215. Could be mistaken.

You are right about Morlock, he was listed at 6 even. Menard was about 6'-6'1" IMO.
Like Herdbot said, I like the 6'4" and 6'5"s
High school heights and weights are never right, this isn't a new concept.
