Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
Another year, another annual roadtrip to Frisco. Always love reading stories from the road and seeing pictures of the journey. Can’t wait for the Herd migration to begin.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
I was hoping this thread would get started again this year. It's always nice for those driving to hear about weather conditions at certain points along the way. Way easier to figure out timing in an actual severity of weather from first-hand reports.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
Not a road trip for me as I live within walking (stumbling) distance of Scruffy Duffies, but seems as appropriate of a place to post as any. Went to Scruffy’s, Ringo’s and Ginger Man in the shops at Legacy last weekend, of course with the green and yellow on. Every bar already has their NDSU signs up in the entry. Ringo’s flies two NDSU flags year round which I absolutely love and of course I’m sure they’ll be hanging this weekend. Every bouncer and bartender at all three bars had comments about next weekend and how they can’t wait for us to show up. Funny I didn’t see any JMU signs/posters...
Party starts Wednesday and if your getting down later than that you’re missing out! Can’t wait for the rest of Bison Nation to get here. Dry/fly safe all!!

Try The Blind Tiger or The Pennant if you're looking for places to eat and have a beer in Topeka.

Blue Moose or Jeremiah Bullfrogs would also be good and both are on Wanamaker Rd, where most hotels are located.

Looking like couple systems going thru Jan 11-14 per Reed Timmer the tornado storm chaser. Stated he was going to be chasing on Jan 11 the ne side of Texas. Quite aways from Frisco/Dallas though.
Think it's a given there will be weather somewhere this time of year across the plains!

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
Anyone taking the Tulsa to Frisco route...right by McAlester, OK there is a little Italian town called Krebs. Go to "Pete's Place" for the all you can eat Italian Dinner. Little town settled by Italian coal miners 100 years ago with several real-deal Italian restaurants. But Pete's allyoucaneat is amazing.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
The forward advance team has landed under the cover of darkness and undetected. Frisco wont know what hit it!
-
Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
I'm taking my time this year. Leaving tomorrow for a night in Nashville, then Wednesday in Memphis, then the long haul to Dallas landing Thursday so I get all the BBQ I can stuff into my gob.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
I was lucky enough to attend the last two championship games, but not in the cards this time. My heart aches to be on the road, seeing the stream of green and gold make its way to Texas, and going to tailgating.
Safe travels, Bison fans. Cheer loudly for The Herd, or as a friend and I came up with a couple years ago, "BisoNation DomiNation!"

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
Adding to the food options in Topeka, Paisanos is great Italian, Hog Wild is good Q, and the White Linen is a good place to take your spouse if things get tense on the way south.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
So, to be clear...NDSU's official side is the suite side...the press box side of the field...correct?

Flying out of Fargo this year Friday afternoon direct to Dallas. Will probably be 100% Bison fans. Can’t wait to get down their and to get settled into the normal routine. Eat some good mexican and bbq, enjoy some drinks with fellow Bison fans, tailgate, rush the field after another title. Lets Go!!!

I flew in a couple years ago from closer to JMU territory. I had paper tickets from their team allotment that came with pep rally tickets that the original buyer had purchased (wasn’t free entry to their pep fest).
I tried to give the pep fest tickets away for free to the JMU fans in the airport and on the plane. Every single one of them looked at me like I was a KGB member who had infiltrated their sacred bubble. Not a single one would take the free tickets.

Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
Group of five just leaving Fargo.
-
Re: Official Roadtrip to the Championship Thread 2020
Does anyone know what the team's flight number is, so we can follow it on its way down to TX?

Sounds consistent...our group tried to buy 4 JMU folks a drink at some bar we were at on Friday PM. They got really nervous looking like it would be poison or something. After a couple short bits of small talk, they up and left.
