Khy Kabellis Transferring
Just in: #NDSU announces junior to be point guard Khy Kabellis will transfer from the school.
Kabellis played in all thirty games this past season, averaging 11 PPG. Played second most minutes on #NDSU, 1 minute behind Paul Miller.

I choose this thread for my reply. (seemed to be first posted)
What?! This seems unexpected and I can't really find a reason off the top of my head as to why. He seemed to have a solid role on the team and isn't good enough to want to move up or bad enough to have to move down for playing time, so I am truly puzzled by this one...
Anyone have any insider info?

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
Richman always brags this team is all about its culture and takes a special kid for them to recruit.
unfortunately its a shitty culture

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
Probably sick of the dribble weave

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
What the fuck. I wasn't optimistic for next year and now I'm even less optimistic.
-
Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
Wow this is really wierd. Although I never was as high on Khy as most here. He's kind of a tweener IMO. Not a great point guard and not really great shooter either. But I didn't see this coming and have to wonder why now.

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
That plain sucks. He would've been the #2 offensive option next year and obviously their primary ballhandler. The couple games he got into foul trouble this past year really seemed to stagnate the offense. Add this to Dupree graduating and that's a ton of minutes in the backcourt, specifically at PG, to replace.

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
Bye bye Khy and good luck! He gonna replace Ball at UCLA?
Cameron Hunter, the keys are yours.

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
Lets sell McKinley wright on leading us to the elite eight and all the press that would get him

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
I'm happy---the two guards who made poor decisions with the basketball are now off the Bison Basketball roster--Dupree & Kabellis
Next man up---maybe he wanted to go home; maybe he didn't like the slow tempo offense; maybe not good team chemistry which I alluded to at beginning of last year

If they both started than what do the backups look like?

Well, maybe you play more guys and look for efficiency and DEVELOP players
Playing only 6 guys can come back to bite a team if someone transfers or gets hurt

Wonder if Tyson Ward will be the guy? He could make me feel better about the loss of

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
Whatever the reasoning, "once a Bison, always a Bison". Thanks for the memories Khy, and good luck with the next chapter.

Not very good. This is the case the coach needed to adjust an offense to fit personel. When we played up tempo (faster tempo than usual) our two guards that others are celebrating being gone were very good. Slow it down and force them to create something with 7 on the shot clock and you get a bunch of turnovers.

Dupree is going to be the bigger loss...I've said it several times and I'll say it again, it's his speed and quickness the Bison will miss. Nobody on the team now has the ability to drive to the basket like Dupree could...
I think we will be just fine with Cameron Hunter and Samuelson and whoever else...

Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
The team has not been the same since Richman took over. Players do not appear to be enjoying their experience. This is a red flag for sure. A player who has everything in front of him leaves?

This does make me wonder WTF is going on? Khy was solid, I think his offense can be replaced but defensively I don't know.

Beat me to it. Richman seems too up tight from a distance. Teaching and coaching with positive reinforcement is gonna win out over grumpy negativity every time. I doubt we are the only ones that see it. Isn't this something the AD needs to monitor and provide input to fix?

a pg that shot 40% and with a near 1:1 assist to turnover ratio?

More to the game that 2 stats. How was he defensively?
Just checked stats from Woodsides SENIOR year 46.4 fg % and 2:1 assist to turnover ratio. Sophomore year 46% and 1.65:1 ratio and he had Nelson, Winkleman etc plus a redshirt year and Tim Miles, a more seasoned HC

I wish him the best but he is definitely replaceable
I will miss the underhanded flying out of bounds flip into our own basket though that was nuts.

I believe he lead the team in minutes and as point guard was the floor general. Losing that along with entering the prime of his college career are a damaging loss for this team. Some of the names being tossed around to replace him as PG are
-
Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
I will say this, our offense isn't really that conducive for racking up assists. A lot of the time Khy was asked to force something up at the end of the shot clock.
The guy wasn't LA or Woodside but he was a solid guard.
-
Re: Khy Kabellis transferring
Khy isn't all world, but he was one of ndsus better players going into next year, and his stats are more a reflection of Richmans offense than the type of player Khy was.
Also, this isn't about we have guys that can replace him, this is about a player leaving who has started since day 1 and you have to wonder if there is any connection in some way to the final 10 games of the season, which was about as disappointing of a stretch since the year after the fab 4 graduated?

I would like to know what the AD has done since taking over? He sure as hell isn't a promotor like Taylor. I don't think he can talk basketball coming from stonebrook? Sorry not a fan of Larsen.

This is a big loss , sorry for the ones that do not believe that. Khy wish you the best in your future. Better be a juco coming in to help now.
