Fighting Hawks get another in-State commit for women’s basketball,
Mandan’s Megan Zander.
Quote:
The 5'11" forward averaged 20 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks per game as a junior and helped lead her team to a second place finish at state.
Zander joins Bismarck Century's Lilly Keplin and West Fargo Sheyenne's Maggie Manson as 2019 in-state verbal commits.

Re: 2019 Summit League Recruiting
Jackrabbits get a commit from quite the highly rated recruit, according to this article:
http://www.catchitkansas.com/content...489775841.html
Quote:
The Jackrabbits were the first Division One program to offer Grill before he began his junior year for the Eagles, with programs such as Washington State, Nebraska, Texas Tech and SMU following suit in recent months.
As a junior, the 6'3" Grill averaged 16.8 points per game along with 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists, leading Maize to a 17-6 record. He becomes the highest rated prospect to ever commit to the Jackrabbits.

Interesting. He was initially an Augustana commit last fall...

...but he decommitted a few months later. Glad he at least won't end up in the NSIC.

Re: 2019 Summit League Recruiting
UND got a commitment from former Williston High School star Desean Eikens (or Desean Allen-Eikens based on some sites). He had moved to California and had, at least at one point, a ton of good mid-major offers: https://247sports.com/Recruitment/De...ruitInterests/

Re: 2019 Summit League Recruiting
Ryan James ranks the Summit League recruiting classes after the early signing period. No surprise that NDSU is towards the bottom, well actually at the bottom, with only 1 scholarship signing in November. Unless there is some roster attrition not sure if there will be any other schollies available.
Quote:
North Dakota State (9). The Bison put together a big haul last spring meaning their fall class is limited to only one guy. That one guy is 6-foot-8 forward Noah Christensen out of Breckenridge, Minnesota, a player that is top 15 level in the state of Minnesota who has taken his team to state twice.

Shocker - UNLV possible destination for Caleb Grill (Former Jackrabbit commit)
https://m.lasvegassun.com/news/2019/...ota-state-unl/
Quote:
While South Dakota State remains an option, Grill said UNLV will most definitely be on his list if Otzelberger wants to recruit him again.
"If that was to happen, it would be a really cool thing to follow T.J. to Las Vegas," Grill said. "It's going through my mind."

South Dakota State is the latest to reach out to former Minnesota-Duluth commit Donovan Ivory, who is also fielding interest from UC-Davis, Valparaiso, and SIU-Edwardsville.

A lot of talent gone and the league wasn't that particularly good this year. The only returning all-conference first teamer will be Umude from USD. I'd expect USD and ORU are going to be NDSU's top competition next year.

Re: 2019 Summit League Recruiting
Don't write off the Jackrabbits. Noah Freidel, the top recruit out of South Dakota (Tea Area high school -- just outside of Sioux Falls proper) who had committed to play for Scott Nagy at Wright State, has decommitted at Wright State and announced today he's a Jackrabbit.
https://twitter.com/noah_freidel?lang=en
Jackabbit fans are starting to use the word "reloading" and not rebuilding.

6-3 Guard out of Chicago. Averaged 9.6 ppg (58% FG) for an Indian Hills CC team that finished 27-7 and reached the 2nd round of the NJCAA National Tournament.
58% FG sounds good, but on FT’s shot only 62.9% and on 3’s shot 31.3%.

And with that all 5 first team Summit League performers from '18/'19 will not be returning in '19/'20. Along with that two second teamers and 3 honorable mention player were seniors so that's 10 of the 15 players who earned postseason honors will be gone next year. Seems like ORU is now clearly the top threat to NDSU.
