New Year, New name, New thread.
Amy tees off at 7:10 Thursday morning EST at the Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA classic. Hopefully, she has a great year.
She was 3 under after 15 holes but bogied 16 and 17 and finished 1 under for her 1st round.
And a New Attitude to boot dufferole! Thanks for kicking off the new thread!:

Round 2 cancelled today due to windy conditions.
It sounds funny but the golf balls would not stop rolling on the green.
On a tough scoring 2 days, Amy finished rd 2 with 2 birdies on the last 5 holes for a 2 over total to finish 4 strokes within the cut line. She is currently even par after 5 holes of the 3rd rd.
Tourney isn't over but Amy finished her last round birdie-birdie for a 1 under round and 1 over overall.
She tied for 41st. Made 6104.00.
A nice finish to the tournament and a decent start to 2018 dufferole! She is a good wind player it seems and with that wouldn’t have been surprised to see her do even better, but she tied the other Dakota girl Kim Kaufman, and played her last round with Katherine Kirk, whom she greatly respects from all indications, so a lot to be taken from this one moving forward. Hoping 2018 will be the breakout year for one or both of
The Dakota Girls!!
Next event is Australian Open starting Feb 14.
The unbelievable success of the Bison with five NCAA Division 1 FCS football national titles in a row, and six out of the last seven national titles as well likely has spoiled all of us a bit. Even has gotten to the point that those who wish to beat the Bison have found they had better be a lot more like them to try to do so! (see James Madison) While everything seems to pale in the light of that sort of success, I don't know that it is fair or even realistic to try to hold up the rest of the programs to what has been accomplished by the Bison on the collegiate football field. However, on an apples to apples basis, I will point out again that Amy is the WINNINGEST athlete in the history of the NCAA, with 20 titles, compared to the next highest of 17 for Julie Inkster. The jump from the college to professional level is huge, just like the jump from high school to NCAA is. Whether she will match the sort of success that she had at the high school and NCAA levels remains to be seen, but I am convinced that she will! I personally believe that she is close to a breakout season in the LPGA along with Kim Kaufman of South Dakota. Here is another stat to bear in mind. Of all of the people who play the game of golf, the odds are 1 in 400,000 of one of them even making it to the professional level. No less staying there and succeeding. The odds are a little better for football but also not so good: "Of all the boys in America who play high school varsity football, less than 6 percent will go on to play at the college level, including those who go on to Division III schools were scholarships are not allowed. Of the precious few who do go on to play college football, only 1.8 percent will be drafted by the NFL. Bottom line? If your child is playing high school football, his chances of making it to the NFL are 0.08 percent or about 8 out of 10,000."
Considering Im not comparing her lack of success against what the FB team has accomplished I would say your post is rather windy.
There isnt a person here including me who doesnt wish her great success. BUT to keep hearing how shes tearing it up or all of the excuses why she isnt on a regular basis just doesnt play well. The leaderboard says it all despite the success she had while playing at NDSU. Of which most of us are very aware of BTW.
Oh my, the ignorance of some posters who are best left on ignore. (Dang quotes....) So, we make a big deal of Bison football players who do well in the NFL. Well, to be on active roster means you are in the top 1696 players in the world. (worse if practice squad) But, but, but what if a starter in the NFL. Well, there are over 700 starters.
So, Amy from North Dakota's best finish, was 80'th on the LPGA tour. Kind of puts it in perspective. I assume there is some kind of european tour too, so not sure where this is in the entire world, but that is darn good in my book and puts it in perspective versus those football players everyone worships; she is very much on par, or better with their status in her relative field (yes, Ginger Jesus is likely higher). So I suggest folks trying to say Amy is "not succeeding," please shut your yappers and let us enjoy her success.
All that aside, I believe that Amy and Kim are on the cusp of breaking through, and it sounds like we will all be equally excited when that happens! The difference may be that I along with some others am also real excited right now and each time they go out! Not unlike Brittany Altomere and Danielle Kang and Kim Kaufman very nearly at the CME and others in 2017 with life changing results in fact for Brittany and Danielle! Kim Kaufman of Clark, South Dakota battled the best in the world in the CME Tour Championship right down to the wire, where if she hadn’t faltered just a tiny bit she would have cashed out $500,000 dollars just for that one event rather than 50k!!! Again, absolutely life changing. And the beauty of it is that often winning or even just contending with the very best in the world for that first one proves to be the key and impetus to subsequent years and years of greatness! I think that the chances of that happening for both Amy Olson and Kim Kaufman are very good indeed!

Well, last year she finished 97th. And I am guessing you didn't "work" 60 days last year. And you didn't have to pay for other expenses such as a caddy. Life on the LPGA unless you are one of the very top money earners is incredibly difficult.
Now don't get me wrong. Amy's achievements have been incredible and finishing 97th is a great accomplishment. A certain poster is a bit over effusive in praise. I prefer to speak realistically. Realistically I am concerned about the sustainability of her career especially when she begins her family unless her earnings increase. So with that in mind, I am hoping she can start to knock out more consistently high finishes to retain her sponsors, get more and make it a more sustainable career.
You dismissively mention a "certain poster" here, and I'm not sure, but I think that I could be that poster! Thanks for taking the time from your busy schedule of being one of the top 50 motivational speakers in the entire world to offer up this drippingly sincere and incredibly insightful appraisal of Amy's chances vis a vis her biological clock along with all of the other harsh realities of life on the LPGA. Somehow, however, as a CPA and honors graduate of NDSU, I think she has a pretty good grip on all of this, but 5673 and myself for two feel totally unworthy of this sort of brilliance! If you would deign to consider personal coaching to help a couple of fellow Bison out, please advise!
I get that. Even if sponsorships are sufficient to cover all golf and travel costs 100,000 a year for a career that ends before 40 and it's eat what you kill from week to week. It's a far cry from the men's game where the guy who earns the last tour card is making a million a season.
Please dont speak for me. Im more in line with Pattys thoughts than yours.
Its is a shame that you arent able to get through a post---discussion with out some back handed and snide comments to those who dont share your point of view. If its your goal to be an ass people will start treating you as such.
Damn, infighting even in the Amy Olson thread.
Mind bottling....
Fair enough. It’s an opinion board and without a healthy diversity of opinions it probably wouldn’t be of much interest at all. I have absolutely no desire to hurt anybody’s feelings here, and I believe that you and I and Patty or anybody else don’t have to agree on anything to still be kind. I shouldn’t have responded in kind. Also, there are underage posters here and who wants to find out that they hurt the feelings of a youngster? I will say again that in my humble opinion, Amy and Kim and others deserve a great deal of credibility and respect just for having reached the level of competition that they have attained. It’s a huge deal and rates a bit of effusion and over the top hard to bear optimism in and of itself in my opinion. And I am a huge Dakota homer and unapologetic about that as well. There are pros who labor for years on the Symetra Tour and at age 30 plus are still not wallowing in self doubt, so yes I think that 41st on the Big Tour is a yuge big marvelous deal. Which of us here can say that they have attained 41st in the entire world in ANY endeavor?!? The level of difference between those making a million plus a year and those struggling or just getting by is minuscule by the way, and I can’t be negative or advise any of them to give up that dream. Not with knowing so well what the alternatives can be. Not my style. All the best and cheers to you and Patty and to everyone else on Bisonville moving forward with their hopes and dreams in 2018!
Well said Bisonaudit! And the prize money and opportunity for more gets much sweeter at 40th on up as you know with the expanded events that become available etc.! Kim Kaufman kept chipping away and landed at 58th with 326k after a lot of journeyman hard work and diligence in 2017. And 40th on the year for 2017 put almost 500k into Karine Icher’s winnings!
