End, it ended up be meaningless, just like the two Boise undefeated teams. (Although, I do like them shoving the P5 into the light socket showing how shitty the system is.)

You do realize if you're not on the team...it's meaningless. Is your life any different or better if NDSU wins FCS champions 6,7,8 and 9 by 2023 than it is if they stayed at 5 or 6?
You don't get a ring or anything. Or any of the accolades. Playing big teams on big stages and beating them is awesome. Beating JMU, Towson or JSU on espn2 doesn't add to the bill.
And you'd be blind with fbs hate if you think fans get more fired up about championships 6 and 7 vs beating ranked Iowa or some other ranked school
Fyi I wouldn't be so anxious to move up if teams like app, old dominion, gsu and CCU stayed.
When it's ndsu, JMU and puds...is when you know this league sucks.

Real Bison fans don't get tired of National Championships. Beating teams like Iowa is nice, but not as nice as DI Trophy.
If NDSU were G5, victories over P5 teams wouldn't be as significant as those games would be played more often and it wouldn't be a David versus Goliath narrative anymore. NDSU, each year would get one or two nice away games, then a ton of crappy conference games, then "maybe" a decent bowl game. Then done eight to nine months. There's a reason why G5 schools don't have consistent fanbases that are excited. In my area, nobody talks up USAFA, CSU, UNM, NM State or Wyoming football. Those teams have nothing to be excited about, even when they are playing a P5 team. They're just jobbers of the FBS. Heck, CSU-Pueblo got more excitement in this area from football fans than those regional G5 teams a few years back when they beat MSU-Mankato for the DII Title. CU-Boulder got some last year when they were decent, but that disappeared pretty quickly this season when they returned to form, and they're a P5 team.

Re: For the FBS or bust crowd.......
Fucking lol. You caught me Christopher moen. I'm not a true bison fan at all.
NDSU fans get up a hell of a lot more beating Minnesota or Iowa compared to beating Sam Houston or Towson.
You know why. Because when it comes to the dick measuring contest, fcs titles move the needle very little. Beating big name programs in their stadium is way more significant. NDSU does the unthinkable getting ap top 25 votes with a Kansas State road win and an undefeated yr. Sub out that kstate with south Carolina st. And we don't get that ever.
Again...national championships are nice...if you're a player. After 7 or 8 of these this decade...it gets boring. Sorry to pop your "who's who when it comes to being a true bison fan bubble", Chris.
I'll eagerly wait for your if you're so bored why are you getting tickets for the 10th season in a row response

Again, winning National Championships doesn't get "boring" if you're a true fan regardless of who the Bison are playing. Perhaps you would understand this if you ever won one yourself. Personally, I was part of three National Championship teams and also have an individual title myself. Winning them never got old for us or our fans.
In regards to being boring, find a G5 fanbase that isn't bored for the most part. They have nothing to show for when their season is done. This is why they don't show up for their home games or their bowl games.
If you're into dick measuring contests, well, that's something you should keep between yourself and Sammy HuMann-Child.

Yes it does. The competition in this level is extremely watered down and thin. Like I said earlier in this thread...if other fcs powers didn't bail, this level will be fun and competitive with rivalries.
Do you play Madden or ncaa football on rookie and freshman mode just to win 99% of your games? That's what this is to ndsu. There's literally nothing left to prove to anyone or any team at this level. Every fan base thinks this should be an fbs program and rightfully so.
Mind if I ask what you did to win national championships?

Playing SEC Auburn on a Jan 1 Bowl would give everyone Bison Boners for months!!

How is the competition watered down exactly? When a team leaves, that gives other teams the ability to rise in their place and take the recruits those departing teams are no longer pursuing. The teams might change, but with the increase in population and each generation having an increase in athleticism, the competition is still going to be tough.
Video games? I'm too old to care.
National Championships were won with a lot of busting your-arse off work - most of which happened outside of practice.
-
Re: For the FBS or bust crowd.......
I LOVE NDSU!! THATS WHY I WANT THEM AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL POSSIBLE!!
Why is that so hard for some of you to grasp? P5, G5, FCS Gene & Stony Brook AD lied to us when they said NDSU should always be in the 2nd tier.

Out of over 100 fcs teams, ndsu is favored by 2 tds+ outside of 2 of them. The majority are 3 or 4 td underdogs. How is that not watered down? The explanation you just gave was horrible.
What teams have risen up since gsu, app, cc left?
So you wont say what you won a natty in that makes them extra special?

Is the Bison being favored by the big of a margin a sign of teams getting weaker or NDSU getting better? What teams have risen in GSU and App State's place. Well, pretty much the whole MVFC conference is a good place to start.
I'm not sure what you're asking about the National Championships I've won or been a part of. If your wondering the sport, that's been explained numerous times on this board - wrestling. Team-wise, we won titles in 1998, 2000 and 2001. In fact, we had our 20-year anniversary last month during the Wofford game along with the 30-year anniversary of the 1988 team. Personally, I won a Greco-Roman title at the University Nationals in 2000, while beating an individual who would finish fourth at the Olympic Team Trials a few months later.

What happens if the bison don't win again?
Did lakes hack your account?
Think winning all the time sucks for UConn women's as there are exactly 1 to 2 teams that can win that every year.
We are stuck with cards we are dealt. The fact we have 6-8 future pros on every team at any given time is a testament to how good this program.
God Bless Craig Bohl, Gene Taylor, Chris Klieman, for making NDSU Great Again
and God Bless Donald Trump

Re: For the FBS or bust crowd.......
I'm not sure UCF is the example the FBS naysayers should be making to the FBS or bust crowd.

Well I guess we made it to the 2nd day of the new year for the same old discussion.

Idk. You told me those recruits are slipping through the cracks that would normally goto gsu, app etc. Obviously they're not because the southern conference is crap and they're def. Not being picked up by MVFC teams...some of those teams just got better at recruiting but none have proven anything yet besides ndsu.
Sorta like the sec schools do the sec sec sec chant but bama does all of the heavy lifting?
I'm asking about your nattys because you said unless I won one...I wouldn't know the feeling

In regards to National Championships, the team titles were far more meaningful and fulfilling than my individual title. From that point on, you're a part of a brotherhood till the day you die.

Population is going up but football participation is going down. Lost 25K kids or so last year.

How does it compare to ten years ago when the FCS/DI-AA was ruled by GSU and App State?

What makes anyone think big p5 teams will schedule us if we are a g5 team? If we can beat them? Scheduling won't look much different than it does now .

I'd say a 35 to 40th ranked FBS NDSU team helps their SOS more than a 110th ranked Akron team.
The losing to an fcs team title is the embarrassing part about these games

Losing to a g5 team is undesirable to them. If we won a couple big games wed be right back where we are now in terms of getting those big games. Except there wed be stuck in g5 purgatory. It's not what you think it would be.

It’s a close call but I think rehashing shitty “real fan” bullshit arguments is slightly more annoying than rehashing shitty FBS or bust arguments. Personally, I’d prefer rehashing arguments about how there is way to much kicking in gridiron football and whether all the ‘fraidycat coaching says anything larger about management culture in the US.

LSU kicked from the 1 foot line against Notre Dame with 2 minutes to go.
They kicked from like the 1 earlier in the game... and missed.
What a bunch of bitches

So do you get “bored” of the Bison winning National Championships?
No need to add a red herring to the argument.

If it's a high ranked g5 team they don't give a shit. Neither will the conference if p5 teams beat so called high ranked g5 team

Put it this way...the bison have won so many and will be in the running for so many in under 10 yrs...that my life is no different winning 5 compared to 8..heres another example...iff I was a hermantown hockey fan and hermantown won all of those A championships instead of finishing runner up....they'd be about where NDSU is for fcs and everybody, like now, thinks they need to move up.
Also winning a national championship this year for me, is more about shutting JMU and their 1 yr dynasty BS the hell up more than securing # 6

YOur talking about playing big games like iowa. If we are a g5 team and we start beating ranked p5 teams...people stop answering our calls again. and we find ourselves in the same situation we are right now. YOur argument is the competition is lacking where were at. Im countering that it will be lacking at the g5 level too...and when P5 teams stop answering our calls for non-con games...how is that any different than where we are right now? YOu really think p5 teams are more willing to lose to us if we were FBS/g5? vs being FCS? They want cupcakes or ranked P5 opponents for those games.
-
Re: For the FBS or bust crowd.......
Why would p5 teams stop playing teams that would help their strength of schedule?
Boise had no problems scheduling Oregon va tech Georgia etc etc when they burst onto the scene
I think you're nuts to think playing MAC level teams is the same as playing YSU, UNI, USD etc.

I get what you dropping but not so sure I am 1100& agreeing on this one... to a point but it helps a lot that you are FBS and Not FCS

I don't think scheduling games against the P5 will be a problem if we were FBS, home games maybe but road money games no way.

Of course not. It’s nearly as absurd a notion as assessing the realness of another’s fandom.

Doesn't losing to a team with a lower ranking hurt your strength of schedule?
I'm nuts? Look at the sagarin conference ratings. If I'm reading them right mvfc is right between the Mac west and east.

everything in this conversation doesnt have to be that NDSU comes out on the winning end of these games.
Id be interested to know what MVFCs score is when you remove NDSU

Well that's the other side of my argument. The opposite is we actually are a cupcake and get rolled by these teams and they keep inviting us back. That sounds fun.

60.70 with, 59.10 without. No change in ordinal ranking against other divisions or conferences.

I dont think NDSU would ever be considered a cupcake unless things go completely upside down. IF they were FBS, theyd be in the solid 25-50 range. So a top 30 win potentially would benefit some P5 teams more than their own conference mates.
