The way Klieman and Gene Taylor kept everything rolling after Bohl left is the blue print for future domination
I would choose any of our current staff over Rocco and he is a stud coach. He may be better qualified than our current coaches but it's all about the system IMO
I would look to someone like Polasek, Vigen, Fuchs, or internal candidates first.
This is dumb.... You are dumb....... Not everyone is ready to be the guy even if they are a good position coach and when a HC leaves they try take their staff unless they go coordinator. Klieman is a UNI guy and he figured things out nicely. Hire high character guys who can coach and the train keeps rollin

If you think hiring from within is not a successful formula, i give you pretty much every coach who has ever won a national championship with NDSU. Once you start a new system, it's back to square one. It takes years for players to learn the offense and defense. It takes years to recruit players who fit your system. You're telling me Randy Hedberg is qualified to be a head coach?
Mudra (natty)
Ehrhardt (continues and more natty)
then they fucked around
Morton brings the option
Earle Solomonson keeps the option and wins
Rocky Hager keeps the option and wins
Bob Babich comes in and changes everything and fucked up the entire program
Craig Bohl brings his style and keeps it for years. Wins 3 National Championships.
Klieman recognizes the system is incredible and keeps the core elements and retains or hires many former Bison coaches who know the system and wins 3 in 4 years. He brought back Polasek and Tyler Roehl all who were familiar with the system. Kept Riley and Goeser. Klieman helped with the defense and made sure all the terminology remained the same so the players wouldn't have to start over. When Klieman took over, there were 5 coaches who knew our system. We didn't miss a beat.
And you're saying I am dumb for wanting to keep the system in place? Right. Better yet, ask Craig Bohl about the 1st 2 seasons in Wyoming where they went 4-8 and 2-10 while getting pounded by UND. Gotta remember it took him 3 years because changing a system sucks and takes time. Or ask Georgia Southern, who hired a big name coach, how things have gone since they quit the triple option?

You just said you'd take anyone on our staff over a stud coach from somewhere else. THAT is a stupid statement. Take your history lesson down the road. It's deflection at best from a terrible statement.

If you blindly take an "in-house" guy you are looking for trouble. All options need to be considered.
Beat Delaware.

Man, we argue about the stupidest shit on game threads.

I find a National Championship trophy more important than say a nickel or Dakota Marker. But it would be great to have both

What is the ultimate goal at the beginning of the year?
Beat SDSU or win National Championship?

Goals for a team are tricky. Sure they have year goals, starts with winning the conference, making the playoffs, then winning the championship. But week to week, a popular mantra with our team that I have heard and appreciated is “Let’s go 1-0 today.”
Focusing on the game in front of you and not the game next week or the conference schedule or the playoffs UNTIL it’s the game in front of you, that’s a big part in of what brings our team success.
So. The answer is all of them. Win them all, snap by snap, series by series, quarter, half, game, etc. Stay focused an hungry.
Re: Delaware - Sept 22 2018
If you ask the team what the goals are, in order
Win MVFC
Get into playoffs
Win NC
they don't think about the next one until they complete them.
