Re: Fire Stony Brook, Save Athletic Program.
we've waited for a FBS invite 10 years now and if we had 1 we should've took it.
hell we'd asswhip those teams 12-0 for 2 years in a row then Big 12 is calling our names

You're getting into your own stash again Chapo ... Put it down and walk away. Lol.

Re: Fire Stony Brook, Save Athletic Program.
I agree with Chapo on CUSA, it is a means to an end. Positions us in a much better place for the MWC. FCS football is trash, you want to know why attendance sucks it is because we pay P5 prices for a weekly blowout. For that blowout we get a decliing gameday experience, this is where ML has lagged massively behind GT.
I am not sure what to do about basketball and DR, we are just kind of stuck in a high floor/low ceiling level of program. Getting exactly what we put into that program and like unbison says it has been going on forever.

Natural selection
Why do you suppose CUSA’s TV deal looks bad next to NDSU’s? No offense to CUSA. Make it better and we’ll talk, assuming we’re still in FCS. JMU turned down the Sunbelt first time around.
I understand what you mean by getting a foot in the door, but NDSU athletics kills what it eats, relatively speaking. The CFB landscape is too uncertain right now to knowingly take a pay cut just for the FBS label.

JMU has massive geographical advantages compared to us, they had conferences fighting each other to get them. We might need to be more agressive to get a footing in the FBS world. Had we waited around in DII, we would still be waiting for the right fit. We might need to find our FBS Great West.

Not really, P5 is the top level, G5 is a second tier, and CUSA is at the very bottom.
It would be like joining the NEC or Pioneer league in FCS. Nobody cares if you win it, and it's not much of a springboard. It also won't give you any real shot at the CFP. You are stuck in obscurity, with noone watching or caring. The few teams left (MTSU, WKU) are desperately trying to leave for destinations like the MAC. None of them other than SHSU and JSU really want to be there.
On top of all that, there is rampant speculation about whether or not CUSA even exists in 5 years. The teams are bad, the media deal worse, and they are spread halfway around the country so no rivalries will be created.
It would be a huge financial burden as well, they make peanuts from Facebook and travel costs are high. We would likely lose our existing regional broadcasts for facebook or Flo Sports paywall.
There is no current situation worse than CUSA, even FBS Indy would be better.
Re: Fire Stony Brook, Save Athletic Program.
Power 5 is Division 1
G5 is Division 2 = CUSA is FBS. period.
FCS is Division 3
Division 3 is where Larson should be AD at.

So we play in the third division
